Any modern gal knows that when real love is presented to us, it looks very different from what we grew up watching in the movies and sometimes, the signs may not be easily recognizable. Read on for some advice to help figure out if your man is engagement ring material.

1. He focuses on the little things
Does your man peel your oranges for you because you hate doing it? Does he make tea for you when you’re sick? Does he bring you home your favorite cupcake after you’ve had a bad day? Does he go to chick flicks with you? Does he carry your bag, even if it’s not heavy? If you can answer yes to any of these questions or questions like it, then you’re man is probably in it for the long haul. These little gestures are you man’s way of showing that he is constantly thinking about you and shows you not just through words, but through actions (which, as we all know, speak louder).

2. He always has your best interest at heart
A guy who is worth keeping will almost always adopt a positive attitude, especially when it comes to your life. Does he encourage you to follow your dreams? Does he manage to do so while still keeping you grounded? Does he encourage you to take risks? Does he rein you in when you might be getting in your own way? All of these things are living proof that you and your guy will have a strong and balanced relationship in the long haul.

3. He makes you a priority
It’s great to be with a man who focuses on his career – ambition, motivation and tenacity are all important characteristics in a mate who you want to be with in the long run. But if he’s so focused on his career that you fall to the sides, or if he makes you feel like his friends are more important than you, then he may need to reprioritize his life. A man who is the one will always make you feel like you are equally, if not more, important than anything else in his life.
