Dating for marriage is totally different than dating casually. If you want an engagement ring on your finger, it’s probably best to take dating seriously and listen to the advice of those around you. One of our James Allen employees is looking to get married and decided to ask for a bit of help. She asked the James Allen Facebook community for their dating advice. Here’s what some of our facebook fans had to say.
What is the best piece of dating advice you've ever received?
“Don't do anything I wouldn't do!! Depends on who says that to you though.”
“Don't date someone you would not marry”
"Equality or not, the woman still tows the line in the relationship. If she allows it, the man will do it." (From my very, genteel, aged Aunt when I was 16. i have never forgotten it)”
“Go with your first gut feeling, and if you see signs that concern you don't ignore them!”
“Teach people how to treat you.”
“Never settle for less than you're worth.”
“Every date is a potential mate.”
“Always be yourself! Duh!”
“Be honest from the get go. Don’t go in with expectations of "is he the one" just have FUN!!! People put so much stress on dating; it’s ridiculous. Stop trying to sell yourself to the person your dating. Either he will want to be a part of your life or he won’t.”
“Keep your heart open to new and wonderful people.”
Here's what some of the James Allen team had to say:
“Look out for red flags and ruthlessly eliminate that candidate (don't waver or wait) if red flags pop up with him.” - Sherri
“Just do it!” - Dan
“Dating is a way to get to know yourself. Enjoy the process.” -Sarah
“Be true to yourself and don’t let others tell you what is best for you.”
-Jackie
“Keep dates simple and inexpensive.” - Nick
