As the year is coming to a close, we at James Allen wanted to look back on the year’s most memorable moments in fashion.

1. Kate Middleton

It should come as news to no one that the Duchess of Cambridge is number one on our list of most memorable fashion moments. This year was Kate’s year. After years of media speculation regarding the eternal “will-they-won’t-they” question of marriage, Kate proved all of her naysayers wrong by not only marrying the Prince of England and becoming royalty (her official name is now, no joke, Her Royal Highness Princess William, Duchess of Cambridge, Countess of Strathearn, Baroness Carrickfergus), but by wowing the world with a stunning wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton.

2. Pippa Middleton

The second most talked about moment fashion moment of 2011 was the other Middleton girl who took the world by storm with her white dress that showcased her swoon worthy derriere. The dress, also designed by Sarah Burton, made headlines ranging from, “Did Prince William Marry the Wrong Sister?” to a facebook fan page called “The Pippa Middleton Buttox Appreciation Society.” Need we say more?

3.  Rooney Mara

She had a smaller, yet pivotal part in The Social Network that she delivered with pizzazz and sass. Next, Ms. Mara exploded into the fashion world with a gorgeous white dress, designed by the House of Givenchy. With her austere cropped haircut and a tour-de-force turn in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, it’s not doubt we’ll be seeing more of Mara’s cutting-edge fashion in the next coming weeks.
