If you`re one of the 70 million Americans who tuned in to Barack Obama`s acceptance speech, you probably noticed Michelle Obama`s dress: the black and red patterned Narcisco Rodriguez frock sparked a media frenzy, with everyone from the New York Times to Vogue weighing in with fashion commentary.

While the jury is still out on the dress (some liked it, some didn`t it), everyone loved Mrs. Obama`s election night diamonds.  Her triple-dangle white gold diamond earrings, by Chicago-based designer Lorree Rodkin, contained pear diamonds, oval diamonds, and marquee diamonds.  The sparkling diamond bangles complemented her outfit with class and style.

First-lady elect Michelle Obama has quickly become America`s new style icon.  With her trademark hair flip and elegant, affordable style, she draws frequent comparisons to the other Mrs. O -  Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, American`s famous fashion-forward first lady.  Mrs. Obama has been named to Vanity Fair`s International Best-Dressed List for two years in a row.

Michelle Obama`s jewelry collection contains an impressive array of diamonds and pearls. At the Democratic National Convention, she created waves with her purple sheath dress, simple black belt, and pearl necklace.  But the true genius of Michelle Obama`s style lies in her ability to mix expensive designer fashion with off-the-rack items.

In a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Michelle Obama faced questions about her wardrobe.  She admitted that she`d purchased her ensemble online, at the JCrew website.

"You can get some good stuff online," she told Leno.

Maybe she`ll start shopping for her jewelry online, too.
