Ever wonder what bridesmaids are really thinking? What are the best and worst parts about being a bridesmaid? James Allen sat down with a seasoned bridesmaid to ask her all about her wedding experiences.  

How many times have you been a bridesmaid?
I’ve been a bridesmaid six times! I feel like an old pro by now. LOL. 

What is the best part about being a bridesmaid?
The best part about being a bridesmaid is getting to stand next to your friend on her special day. It’s really quite moving to be up there during the ceremony. Plus, getting ready together is really fun too.

What is the worst part?
The worst part is the expense. I’ve spent anywhere from a total $200 to a total of $3000 on bridesmaids duties. It really depends on the nature of the bride and the wedding.

Do you prefer when the bride tells you what dress to wear or when you pick out your own?
I definitely prefer picking my own – it’s the only time I’ve ever worn the dresses again (but that’s a secret). But I also understand that every bride has her own specific vision for her wedding and many will want to pick out dresses for their bridesmaids.

Do you have a favorite bridesmaid dress you wore? Tell us about it!
Yes! My favorite dress was the one I wore as maid of honor at my sister’s wedding. It was a very pale yellow dress from BCBG. The top part was strapless with boning (it helps suck everything in!) while the bottom was layered with long pieces of flowing fabric. It was just gorgeous.

What is your take on the concept of bridesmaids in general?
I think it’s a beautiful tradition to honor the people closest to you. As long as the bride and bridesmaids are considerate of one another, I’m all for it!

Do you plan to have bridesmaids at your wedding?
Yes! The hardest part will be choosing them though!
