Whether you’ve been dating for a few months, have an engagement ring on your finger or have been married for 10 years, the need to reinvigorate your relationship is always an important element. Here are three ways to keep the flame alive.
1. Get away
Perhaps the most common reason why relationships go stale is because of an inevitable fact: life gets in the way. Between work or school, children, activities, housework and any else that needs to get done, there are an infinite amount of distractions in your day to day life. With many of us living in overdrive, it can be easy for months to go by and not have connected with your significant other. Do yourselves a favor and get away – it doesn’t have to be somewhere exotic, expensive or even far away. A simple weekend camping trip can do wonders to get you back in sync with your mate.
2. Do something childlike
Another reason why relationships get stale is because over time, we lose some of the fun in them. As we get older and we begin to experience “real life” problems, we can sometimes forget to have fun and let loose. Try a fun night at an amusement park, water park, carnival, fair or a kids restaurant like Chuck-E-Cheese. It’s impossible to feel youthful in these places!
3. Spend some time apart
There is such a thing as spending too much time with someone, no matter how much you may love each other. For those of you who no longer live with your parents, consider spending a night at their house, or if they drive you crazy, a good friend’s place. A night apart can do wonders for your sense of longing and reuniting always feels great.
