Armed robbers, dressed in Hassidic clothing (black hats, black clothing), stole $4 million worth of diamonds and jewelry from a New York diamond importer.  The robbery occurred in broad daylight on New Year`s Eve on West 46th St, in the heart of New York City`s Diamond District.

The two diamond robbers wore fake beards, black hats, and black coats.  They made it past the security guard using fake IDs, and traveled up to the fifth floor of the building to the offices of Dialite, a company that imports diamonds.

At gunpoint, the robbers forced employee Atul Shah to empty the safe of its diamonds and jewels.  They used duct tape to tie up Shah and another employee.

The stolen merchandise – valued at $4 million – included diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, rings, pendants, and more.

The diamond heist is reminiscent of a scene from Guy Ritchie`s 2001 film "Snatch" in which Brad Pitt and Benecio Del Toro dressed as Hassidic Jews in order to steal millions of dollars in diamonds.

Lloyd`s of London insurance company is currently investigating the case.
