Paula Abdul Dance Show

Paula Abdul's dance show may have plummeted 25 percent in viewership from its premiere episode, but the pop star, who is famous for hits like Straight Up and Opposites Attract, is optimistic about where her stint as a celebrity judge on Live To Dance is going.

She says so on an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres show airing today. She also makes nice with the talk show host, who took her job as a celebrity judge on American Idol, who reportedly quit, but was rumored to have been ousted by producers and Simon Cowell.  She revealed the news via Twitter.

"I can watch the show objectively and I can watch the show as a fan as I normally do. I can watch the show and say, 'Wow.' I thought you did a good job. I thought you handled yourself with poise and elegance. You handled yourself the right way that is authentic to who you are," Abdul said about DeGeneres.

While the former dancer seems to be doing well on her own show, she was also once in talks to appear on Dancing With The Stars. ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson said the door was open for her to appear as a judge, a guest, or a celebrity contestant.

"I told her we'd love to have her on 'Dancing' - as a judge, a guest star or a contestant. She's a huge talent. I think there's a sensitivity and a kind of emotion to her that balances out 'Idol.' And we'd love to get a piece of that. It would be great."

Nigel Lythgoe, producer of Fox`s `So You Think You Can Dance`, has also made an offer public, though he did mentioned it's unlikely his show is looking for a full-time judge. Ironically, media reports have said that her show Live To Dance is just like So You Think You Can Dance. It will also compete with American Idol's new time slot and Abdul will be up against the new judges: Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and movie actress/one time In Living Color dancer Jennifer Lopez, who have taken the reigns from Cowell, Abdul, and Kara DioGuardi.

Abdul has never been quiet about her dislike for Cowell and the two have often fought publicly during the show. She confesses her dislike for the British producer to Ellen DeGeneres.  She called it a tumultuous, love/hate relationship.

"Actually when we're on the hating side, I will cross the street and walk on the other side. I avoid him like the plague," she said, "You know what, I gave him the cold shoulder at times and he'd be laughing hysterically and I'd be so mad at him. And the more I got mad at him, the more I was feeding into his [poke, poke]. He's an acquired taste. He's like fungus in the sense that he sticks around for a long time and then finally you surrender to it."

Besides wowing the public with her knack for dance, Abdul has also had her share of younger men and famously exchanged wedding rings with The Breakfast Club's Emilio Estevez in 1992. They divorced in May 1994 because Abdul said she wanted children and Estevez had two children from a previous relationship. Later, Estevez said she was too unstable for parenthood.  Estevez was also previously engaged to movie star Demi Moore.  The son of Martin Sheen and brother to Charlie Sheen announced he was engaged to writer Sonja Magdevski in 2006. No word in the media on whether they were ever married.
