Gold and Silver Bracelets Found on Israeli Archeological Dig
Thu, April 20 2006, 04:57 EST
This is cool stuff. At an archeological dig in Ramle, Israel, a group of 11th century gold and silver items were found. Among the items were rare bracelets and anklets. Some of the bracelets were more ornate, with plant motifs and were found in excellent condition. One of the gold bracelets is inscribed with the phrase "Full blessing" written in Arabic. Another of the silver bracelets has quotes from the Koran engraved on it. Jewelry has been uncovered in previous digs in Jerusalem, but this is the first time an archeological event has produced items such as the gold bracelets. Two of the heaviest pieces were silver anklets, weighing approx. 170 grams each. Other items found were gold coins from the eighth to 11th century, a scale and some bronze weights. Get out your metal detectors. That`s way cool.
