If you are thinking about a plain, white diamond, think twice. Today, ultra-rare colored diamonds are in fashion.
They used to be worn only by royalty or billionaires, but increasingly movie stars are catching onto the colored gem craze. Celebrities tend to want them because very few other people have them.
The value of colored diamonds has increased 300% in the last two years. They are at the top of the shopping list for the super rich.
Responding to this trend, Cartier just launched a colored diamond jewelry line that was inspired by the company`s Indian gemstone background. The Inde Mysterieuse collection boasts 34 colored diamond pieces. The least expensive is a pair of earrings with two rose-cut yellow diamonds with brown diamond beads and drops, at a price of $400,000 U.S.
They sold out almost immediately.
