Botswanan women show off Botswana diamonds

Three powerful Botswana women will discuss the benefits of the diamond trade in their country at a meeting March 21 at London`s Chatam House.

The women are the chief executive officer of De Beers Botswana, Sheila Khama; attorney general, Athaliah Molokomme; and governor of the Bank of Botswana, Linah Mohohlo.

The three women three will discuss the opening of the Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTCB), which will occur March 18. The three women will talk about the importance of the diamond trade in their country.

The largest industry in Botswana is diamonds, which is 33% of the country`s GDP. With the opening of the diamond trading company, Botswana will have one of the world`s largest diamond sorting and valuing plants.

The new diamond industry in the country should cause other industries to sprout, including polishing and manufacturing.
