Antwerp Diamond Museum Reopens After $500,000 Makeover

The Antwerp Diamond Museum is open to the public again following a $500,000 makeover. This makeover included an expansion of display space, and new exhibits were opened. This is a multi-story museum, located on the city`s Koningin Astridplein, is adjacent to the Central Railway Station and is Antwerp`s only interactive museum. The museum is funded and operated by the Province of Antwerp, along with HRD and the city`s diamond community.At the forefront of the renovations is the new display area called the Welcome Wing 360, which gives visitors an audiovisual introduction to the role of the Diamond Museum in Antwerp from a historical and cultural point of view as well as to the city and province`s "Diamond Heritage." In addition, the security system has been upgraded and the displays of "Diamond Story" and "The Fascination of Diamond" have been streamlined. The museum shop, lobby and reception area have also been updated. The museum will now focus on the development of a program for children. There is also a program called "FEELing with Diamond" with for the sight impaired.
