603 Carat White Diamond, `Lesotho Promise`, Up for Sale

A 603 carat white diamond, the largest find this century, was recovered at the Letseng diamond mine in Lesotho. This is the 15th largest diamond ever mined. The diamond has been given the highest color grading of `D`. Prior to this find, the `Lesotho Brown` at 601 carats had been the largest stone found at Letseng diamond mine.Says Lesotho`s Minister of Natural Resources, Dr. Khaketla, "We are proud that a Lesotho diamond has made history for a second time. The `Lesotho Promise` heralds an auspicious start to our partnership with Gem Diamonds at Letseng. Furthermore it comes at a time when the Kingdom of Lesotho is celebrating 40 years of independance."Clifford Elphick, CEO of Gem Diamonds went on to say, "This exceptional find reinforces the excellent potential of Letseng.
