An auction in Singapore on Sunday, March 26th ended with the premiere piece still available. A Singapore couple made the highest bid for a 40-carat oblong diamond necklace, which is set in 18-carat white gold and also contains 50 smaller diamonds. The high bid was $332,000 but was still short of the seller`s expectations ($540,000). The estimate of the necklace was between $400,000 and $600,000. The sale took place at Hotel Hilton Singapore, where about 200 people attended and 224 other items were sold. There just weren`t enough bidders driving up the price for this special piece.
