It takes a lot of awkward first dates to find that special someone. Just ask any girl with an engagement ring how many awful dates she had to endure before finding the one. Next time you find yourself at a loss for words, try these first-date ice-breakers and let the magic begin!

1) What is your favorite TV show?
This may seem like a silly question to ask, but you’d be surprised how much you can learn by finding out what TV shows your date likes.    

2) What was your favorite book as a kid?
Most people have one or two books they absolutely loved growing up. (My favorites were Matilda and Harriet the Spy. Anyone else?!) Sharing your favorite childhood stories is a fun way to bond. Perhaps you and your date had similar favorite books. One thing is for sure, this question will lead you both down memory lane!  

3) Would you rather….
Would you rather have a few ice-breakers to avoid boring conversations on a first date or sit in awkward silence? That’s what I thought! Asking your date if he would rather “A” or “B” is a fun way to find out some interesting things about him. Remember, keep it clean…it’s only a first date!

4) When was the last time you cried?
Contrary to popular belief, this question is not too intimate for first date conversation. There is nothing wrong with talking about emotions and sentimental experiences on a first date. If anything, it will help you and your date to see a more sensitive, authentic side of each other.
