Kim Kardashian, who recently announced her divorce to NBA star Kris Humphries, is coming out about her 72 day marriage. Yesterday, the reality TV star posted a heartfelt letter on her personal blog. She thanked her family, friends and fans for their support and explained that despite the rumors, she indeed married for love.
“I would not have spent so much time on something just for a TV show! I got caught up with the hoopla and the filming of the TV show that when I probably should have ended my relationship, I didn't know how to and didn't want to disappoint a lot of people," Kardashian wrote.
Ultimately, Kardashian said that she had to follow the advice of her father—listen to her heart and ignore the critical voices of those who do not have her best interest in mind.
"I have to follow my heart,” she shared. “I never had the intention of hurting anybody and I accept full responsibility for my actions and decisions, and for taking everyone on this journey with me…It just didn't turn out to be the fairy tale I had so badly hoped for."
Several stars have tweeted in response to the shocking news of Kardashian’s divorce; some offered their support and condolences.
Kelly Osbourne tweeted: "@KimKardashian thinking of you stay strong don't listen to the haters listen to your heart! Xoxo."
Music tycoon, Russell Simmons wrote: “Hoping the best for Kim.”
As far as her wedding gifts, Kardashian isn’t planning on keeping or selling them. She will be donating the money for all the gifts to the Dream Foundation— a charity that makes dreams come true for adults battling life threatening illnesses.
The question remains— what will Kardashian do with her $2 million, 20.5-carat diamond engagement ring?!
