It’s official. It’s over for Heidi Klum and Seal. After seven years of marriage, the power couple announced that they are divorcing.
"While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate.
"We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition.
"We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children's sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy," the supermodel and Project Runway host told PEOPLE.
We certainly didn’t see this one coming. It was just eight years ago that Seal got down one on knee in an igloo a 14,000-ft.-high glacier in Whistler and asked for Klum’s hand in marriage. The singer gave Klum a sizable 10 carat yellow diamond engagement ring which made headlines for its unique color and beauty. Their engagement was indeed a "a once-in-a-lifetime event," as Klum described it.
In May 2005, the couple headed to Costa Careyes, Mexico for an intimate destination wedding.
Klum and Seal have four children together, Leni, 7, Henry, 6, Johan, 5, and Lou, 2.
It’s so sad to see a couple, who once looked so happy, call it quits. But here at James Allen we are more concerned the engagement ring. When celebrity couples go their separate ways, we worry what will happen to their million dollar sparklers. In this case, the question remains: what will Klum do with her 10 carat yellow diamond engagement ring?
