Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former US President Bill Clinton and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, has just launched her first Facebook fan page. The page received thousands of likes on its first day and quickly gained rank as a hot topic on Alexa, the famous global web information company.
Chelsea Clinton, 31, received mass media attention last July when she wed investment banker Marc Mezvinsky in a lavish ceremony whose price tag was in the millions--in scenic Rhinebeck, New York. Clinton wore a gorgeous Vera Wang gown and a customized emerald-cut engagement ring said to have cost $1 million.
Clinton is gaining more prominence in the public eye. With a new highly paid job (with a $300,000/yearly salary) as the youngest board member of the internet holding company IAC/InterActive Corp, an active position at her father’s Clinton Global Initiative, and a demanding academic life pursuing a PhD, Chelsea Clinton is a very busy woman.
In one of her first Facebook posts, Clinton wrote, “I know I’m late, but I’ve finally joined Facebook!” Clinton has listed running, reading, theatre, and ballet as her favourite activities and her fanpage has New York University and the University of Oxford, England on her “Likes” list. In the Facebook Personal Information section Clinton wrote, "My parents and my grandmother inspire me every day and, every day, in my work and personal life, I think about how best to live my grandmother's twin mantras that 1) "Life is not a dress rehearsal" and 2) "Life is not about what happens to you, but what you do with what happens to you."
Clinton’s Facebook fan page is receiving “Likes” and words of admiration from droves of admirers on a daily basis. Given her superstar power-couple parents, her involvement in charitable and worthy causes, and her enviably fashionable life in New York City, it is only a matter of time before Clinton's Facebook fan page receives more likes than Lady Gaga's.
