First comes the love, then comes the marriage, then comes the baby in the baby carriage.

Superstar Beyonce seems to be doing things in just that order.

On Sunday, at the MTV Video Music Awards, Beyonce, 29, showed off her new baby bump in an orange one-shoulder gown. "I have a surprise!" the diva gushed while cradling her bigger-than-usual belly. 

"They told friends in the last month," a close friend of Beyonce and husband Jay-Z told PEOPLE. "She's never been happier. Seriously it's all she's been waiting for. And Jay is like an excited kid. They're adorable."

During the show, Beyonce performed her new song "Love on Top" wearing a flattering jacket and pants suit. "I want you to stand up on your feet. I want you to feel the love that's growing inside me," Beyonce told the enthusiastic crowd. At the end of the performance, the pop diva unbuttoned her shiny jacket and rubbed her stomach.

This will be the first child for Beyonce and rapper Jay-Z.
