Not all celebrities want weddings as extravagant as Kim Kardashian’s $10 million wedding!
Actress Andrea Roth, for example, married producer Todd Biermann in an intimate, low-key wedding ceremony on Oct 7. Roth, who is most famous for her role as Janet Gavin in the FX series Rescue Me, changed her destination wedding plans at the last minute when her mother was diagnosed with cancer.
"My mother, Jane, was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer in January of this year," Roth told PEOPLE. "She was very weak so we planned our wedding in three weeks near my parents' house."
Roth and Biermann said “I do” at the Vineland Estates Winery in Ontario, Canada. It was a small event with only 12 close family and friends attending. The most special guest of course was the couples 18 month-old daughter, Ava.
"You hear about brides stressing over being meticulous Bridezillas. When you have a baby, you're busy being a mom," Roth said.
“Ava got scared, so she walked down the aisle with me. Then, pretty much the whole time we were doing vows, Ava had to be in my arms. When she got tired, she fell asleep in Todd's arms right at the end of the ceremony," the Canadian actress added.
"It was so special," reminisced Roth. "The three of us, when we exchanged vows [or] the three of us dancing – those are the moments that made me happy."
The most wonderful part of the wedding was the fact that Roth’s mom could attend and share the day with her daughter.
"Before the wedding my sister and I weren't sure she was going to make it, Roth explained. “They weren't certain she'd even be able to be at the wedding for an hour. But she was determined to be there. She ended up staying for hours and hours."
"My mother has been getting healthier and stronger," Roth said emotionally. "It could not have been a more perfect day."
