It`s no secret that actor Dennis Hopper is dying from cancer and reportedly only has weeks to live. Not to mention, he is in a highly medicated state. So, it makes sense that his recent divorce shocker may not be exactly what it seems.

Last Thursday, Hopper filed for divorce from his Victoria – his wife of 14 years, and the mother of his 6-year-old daughter Galen. The divorce came as a huge shock considering Hopper`s state, and his long marriage to Victoria. Well, a family confidant tells the Huffington Post that Dennis` daughter Marin is responsible and is trying to squeeze more money from her father`s estate.

"It's so horrible, Dennis is at home, Victoria and Galen are living there as well, and Marin is pulling her father out of his bed and driving him to the divorce lawyers. The poor guy has no idea what is going on. Even his lawyers are telling people he is on painkillers and is essentially sleeping all the time," a friend told Huffington Post.

Hopper filed the divorce papers despite the fact that his lawyers wouldn`t let him sign any other paperwork at the time due to his mental state. He is reportedly delirious and having trouble speaking.

Marin supposedly lives rent-free at her father`s Vince estate with her child. She earns a living by booking appearances for her father. A family friend told Huffington Post that Dennis delayed the start of his chemo in order to attend a paid gig in Europe organized by Marin.

Friends also believe that all recent statements that have gone out to the media are the work of Marin, not Dennis, given his weakened mental and physical state.

As the will stands now, "Victoria gets 25% of the estate unless Marin can push through this last minute divorce," says the family friend. "Victoria has never asked for more and has no plans to contest the will. However, if the divorce is finalized, Victoria and Galen get nothing."

Dennis and Victoria exchanged wedding rings in 1996.

"Marin has always hated Victoria," the family friend continued. "If she can get her father to reject Victoria on his deathbed, and get more money in the process, she'll be the happiest woman in Los Angeles."
