Shhhh...It's a Secret!
Last Wednesday, Rachel Weisz and James Bond star Daniel Craig said "I do" in a secret ceremony in front of just four people. Guests included Craig's daughter Ella, 18, and Rachel's son Henry, 4, Craig's daughter Ella, 18, and two other unnamed friends. The actors exchanged wedding rings in upstate New York.
The couple’s brief courtship was just as hush-hush as their wedding. They have only been dating since last June, after meeting on the set of Dream House, a thriller in which they ironically play husband and wife. Before Wesiz, Craig dated longtime girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell. Weisz dated "Black Swan" director Darren Aronofsky, with whom she had her son.
According to Celebrity wedding planner Yifat Oren celebrities go to great lengths to keep their weddings hush-hush. "We have to be far more creative and more secretive," says Oren. "Even B-list celebs' weddings have now become headline news." Wedding photographer to the stars, Denis Reggie, agrees. "The celebrities who have pulled off weddings where no one is the wiser, almost universally it's a 50-person-or-less wedding…The longer the guest list, the greater the propensity for word getting out," says Reggie.
Not all stars are as flashy as Kim Kardashian and Jessica Simpson. Many prefer to keep their weddings low-key so as to avoid unwanted guests and keep out the paparazzi. The public are fascinated with celebrity weddings and stars therefore will do anything to preserve their privacy. They use all sorts of techniques to throw the paparazzi off like, sending out fake invitations, using fake names on invitations and surprising guests last minute. Celebrities who have pulled off secret weddings include Renee Zellweger, Jennifer Lopez and Julia Roberts.
Guess Weisz and Craig didn’t want noisy helicopters flying above their heads on the most important day of their lives. Can’t blame them, can you?!
