Shocker! Emily Maynard and Brad Womack have called it quits!
"We're no longer engaged," Maynard told PEOPLE in a recent interview with the magazine.
I’m not sure how this is news. Did anyone think their relationship was actually going to last? Womack and Maynard’s love was completely forced and awkward from the get-go. The entire season Womack chased Emily around like a desperate Puppy, while Emily gave him the warmest cold shoulder possible. I hate to be a downer, but I wasn’t the slightest bit surprised by their split.
Maynard, a 25-year-old single mom from Charlotte N.C, sat down with Bachelor host Chris Harrison to dispel any rumors about the reality stars’ breakup She told Harrison she wants to end all “media speculation” so that she and her daughter, Ricki, can “move on and get back to normal." Womack, 38, who admits that the “demise of our relationship was completely my fault," refused to take part in interview.
Even in the interviews following the series finale, the “lovers” failed miserably at their attempt to look happy. Maynard didn’t wear her 3 carat cushion-cut diamond engagement ring claiming it was “just too big.” Uh huh, I believe that. They also had very different perspectives on their status and future plans. Brad said that he had always considered them engaged and wanted to marry Womack. Emily, on the other hand, wasn’t as enthusiastic.
When asked if she sees herself marrying Womack, Maynard gave a indirect answer. “I think the way I feel about him I can’t compare it to anybody else. I know he has put up with me. I can’t see my everyday life without him in it. So yea, I do see us getting married,” she said unconvincingly.
And if they do marry, it certainly won't be anytime soon. “Right now in this instant, I love you, but no. I wish I was, but I’m being honest but we have some things we need to figure out. How we fight and how we deal with things and how we communicate,” she explained. “It has nothing to do with the way I feel about him. I love him with every part of who I am.”
Something about this story doesn’t scream happily-ever-after. It's highly unlikely Brad and Emily will ever walk down the aisle--at least together. As far as Brad, I’ve pretty much given up on him finding love. I still believe though that there’s hope for Emily. I’d love to see her come back as next season’s Bachelorette.
What do you say? Should Emily be next season's Bachelorette?
