Michael C. Hall, the actor who plays everyone`s favorite fictitious serial killer – Dexter - just announced he has cancer. He is currently undergoing treatment and the disease is in remission, said a spokeman.
"I feel fortunate to have been diagnosed with an imminently treatable and curable condition, and I thank my doctors and nurses for their expertise and care," Hall said in a statement on Wednesday.
The 38 year old actor was diagnosed with Hodgkin`s lymphoma, a cancer that affects the body`s immune system. The good news is that the disease is considered highly treatable, with a prognosis of full recovery.
Craig Bankey, a spokesman for the actor, said the cancer is in complete remission and that Hall`s treatment will continue.
So far, the name of the Los Angeles health facility where Hall has undergone treatment, and the time period when he underwent it, has not been released.
Hall plans to attend Sunday's Golden Globe awards and the upcoming Screen Actors Guild ceremony with his wife, actress Jennifer Carpenter, who plays his sister on Showtime's hit show Dexter. Hall and Carpenter exchanged wedding rings on New Year`s eve 2008. Hall is a nominee at both awards shows for his role as Dexter Morgan, a serial killer working as a blood-spatter expert.
Bankey said Hall will return to production on the Dexter`s fifth season later this year.
