Maria Shriver could make at least 15 million dollars from her upcoming divorce from husband Arnold Schwarzenegger. Shriver, a former NBC journalist, has been approached by several publishing companies to write a memoir about her 25-year-marriage with the California Governor. The book deal could be one of the biggest ever, even bigger than the deal Bill Clinton received for his autobiography, My Life. Wow, that’s a whole lot of money!
News of the potential book deal comes just days after Shriver filed for divorce from Schwarzenegger. Shriver decided to divorce after the Terminator star admitted to fathering a child with a member of his staff. The celebrity couple had no prenuptial agreement, so it is likely that Shriver will come away with half of their fortune. She will also receive child support for their two sons, ages 13 and 17. The specific details of the divorce will be settled privately.
"I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry," said Schwarzenegger immediately after the news broke.
His apology, however, was not enough to keep Shriver from filing a divorce. Friends say Shriver is not interested in staying with Schwarzenegger regardless of his apology. A source close to her says she is handling herself courageously and has remained strong throughout the scandal, "[She] refuses to hide because of what some jerk did to her."
If Shriver does decide to write a book, it will not be published--for both personal and legal reasons--until after the divorce is finalized. Shriver, a member of the Kennedy Family has already written 6 books including And One More Thing Before You Go and What Happened to Grandpa?
What do you think? Should Shriver take the advance? Should she make some money and write a tell-all about her marriage with Schwarzenegger?
