Hey Aussies, big engagement ring news!
Beauty queen and TV host Jennifer Hawkins, 26, is showing off one heck of an engagement ring!
Hawkins, who was named Miss Universe 2004, flaunted her $200,000 brilliant-cut diamond sparkler, in this week’s edition of New Idea magazine. Her exclusive engagement ring was made by jeweler to the stars Nic Cerrone. Cerrone has designed jewelry for celebrities like Delta Goodrem, Cate Blanchett and Terri Hatcher.
Fiancé Jake Wall, 27, proposed on New Year’s Eve in New Zealand, taking the Australian model by surprise.
"I didn't expect it. I used to say that you don't need to get married but the next day after we got engaged, I did feel different," Hawkins said. "I felt really content and safe."
Wall shared the details of the proposal from their private jet to their luxurious accommodations at the Linneaus Resort . He told how he and Hawkins shared an intimate day at the top the Mount Earnslaw Glacier.
"It was pretty amazing," Hawkins gushed. "They flew us to the top of a mountain and dropped us off and we had a picnic at the foot of a waterfall."
Wall, however, did not propose till later that evening when the couple was cuddling outside their five-star, bay-side chalet.
Hawkins told the magazine how it happened: "He gave me this box but it was a large box so I thought it was a necklace or something. But then I opened it and he said, 'I want to marry you. I want to be with you for the rest of my life.' And I giggled. When I get nervous, I giggle. I said, 'Say it again'."
"So I got up on one knee and said it again," added Wall.
Hawkins and Wall first met in 2003 at Fanny's nightclub in Newcastle.
Congratulations Jennifer and Jake! Wishing you all the best as you begin this exciting journey together.
