Heather Locklear, 50, and Jack Wagner, 52, may have called of their engagement, but according to PEOPLE magazine, they "still love each other very much." Last week, Locklear’s rep announced that the couple, who wed on TV series Melrose Place almost a decade ago, would not be going through with their real-life wedding.
"Jack and Heather are no longer engaged," the Spin City actress’s rep told PEOPLE.
Looks like Locklear will have to remove her diamond engagement ring and won’t be getting a wedding ring anytime soon.
The couple’s decision to go separate ways was an amicable one— they simply wanted to make sure they did what was right for their respective families. Wagner told PEOPLE that they had not been spending enough time with their children as a result of the hectic wedding planning. He also explained that both he and Locklear felt it was too soon to blend families. Neither actor wanted their children to feel unsettled or confused.
Wagner has two sons, Harrison and Peter, from his marriage to Kristina Malandro and Locklear has a daughter, Ava, with ex-husband Richie Sambora.
Poor Ava. She must have taken the news harshly. According to Locklear she was so excited when she heard the news of their engagement. "Ava was so excited when we told her," Locklear said. "She hugged Jack, said congratulations, and she immediately wanted to see the ring. Then she ran and Facebooked her new stepbrother."
Unfortunately, Locklear hasn’t had much luck with marriage. She was married twice before to Tommy Lee (1986 to 1993) and Richie Sambora (1994 to 2006).
