We knew it! Although shocking at first, it makes sense that Ali Fedotowsky and fiance Roberto Martinez have split. The reality TV couple appeared loving and romantic on-screen, but off-screen things were unraveling. It's no wonder Ali wasn't wearing her engagement ring less than a year after their engagement!  

Take a look back at the signs that Ali and Roberto were headed towards a breakup.

1. They met on TV.

Let’s face it— couples that meet on reality shows are doomed to fail. With the exception of Ryan and Trista, every couple to come off The Bachelor or Bachelorette has broken up. Remember how quickly Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi called it quits? Or Brad Womack and Emily Maynard who broke off their engagement just months after getting engaged? Ali and Roberto stood no real chance of living happily ever after. It’s too bad they didn’t meet at a coffee shop or local single events! 

2. They postponed.

It was a clear sign Ali and Roberto’s romance wasn’t going well when they pushed off setting a wedding date. “When we actually did have a date that worked for us [last August], I found out that I had to have knee surgery," Ali told PEOPLE last October. But was this really the reason they never managed to secure a date to tie the knot?

Ali also said they postponed their wedding because they needed to figure themselves out as individuals. "We had a very short courtship and we only knew each other nine weeks before we got engaged," she said. "We are still figuring out our lives as individuals."

Last but not least was the planning excuse. "I had no idea how much would be involved in planning a spring wedding," Ali claimed. Ummm…ya, we really don’t believe that.

3. They argued over small things. 

“We definitely have arguments," Ali told reporters, "but we always make up afterwards and realize how much we love the other person." Clearly the celebrity couple, who had been living together in San Diego, had more than a few arguments they didn’t resolve.  Six months after their engagement, Ali and Roberto were already admitting to fighting about things as minor as Wii bowling. Red flag!

It’s so sad that Ali and Roberto didn’t end up together, but honestly, we can’t say we’re surprised.
