A spokesman for former President Bill Clinton told ABC News that his daughter, Chelsea Clinton, is engaged to her longtime boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky.

Chelsea is the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton - the current Secretary of State in President Barack Obama`s Cabinet. She met Mezvinsky when they were both teenagers in Washington. They both attended Stanford University in California.

Mezvinsky is a son of former Pennsylvania Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky and former Iowa Rep. Ed Mezvinsky, who are longtime friends of the Clintons.

Engagement rumors spread earlier this year – false reports claimed that the duo had planned an August wedding at the resort island of Martha's Vineyard, but Hillary denied them.

The couple sent out an e-mail to friends on Friday announcing the joyous news. They are aiming to exchange wedding rings next summer:

"We're sorry for the mass email but we wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving! We also wanted to share that we are engaged! We didn't get married this past summer despite the stories to the contrary, but we are looking toward next summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us. Happy Holidays! Chelsea & Marc," said the email.

Chelsea, 29, currently works at a New York-based hedge fund and Mezvinsky works as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs. In 2002, his father pled guilty to cheating dozens of investors out of $10 million.
