Environmentally Friendly Weddings, Even Down to the Ring.

A recent trend shows engaged couples are becoming more environmentally friendly when planning their weddings. The conservation efforts are just another part in making our world a “greener” place to live. Some couples at Gale Woods Farm, a working educational farm in Minnetresta, Minn., have begun serving their guests organic chicken and homegrown veggies. One such couple is planning for an August wedding and they are going all out in their efforts, including compostable utensils made from potatoes and a solar-powered trailer to make popcorn. Even their wedding bands are eco-friendly—they are 100 percent recycled white gold wedding rings! The couple plans to save money by using less paper and choosing a natural setting with minimal decorations. The bride-to-be is also wearing a versatile floral-print dress so that she can wear it over again. “Symbolically, it’s the day we start our lives together, and we don’t want to do that in a way that isn’t congruent with our values,” she said in an interview with the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
