Women Know What They WantThu, March 29th 2007, 09:23 EST | |
| 40 percent of women would buy diamonds as a safe investment and to leave as an heirloom, according to a report recently done by KLM. Only a third would buy themselves a diamond out of self-indulgence, and a quarter of women think that by buying their own diamond they are being trendy and keeping up with celebrities’ fashion.
Many women are practical diamond shoppers, choosing to purchase pre-owned jewelry from auctions and pawnbrokers over the more pricey option of traveling overseas to find the perfect stone. Still, a quarter of women would do this without a second thought if need be.
The top three purchase items for women, when it comes to diamond jewelry, are rings (41 percent), earrings at 18 percent, and pendants at 15 percent. Perhaps this is because of the ever-growing popularity of the right-hand diamond ring.
For all the men who have been half-asleep reading this, listen up now…. The report revealed that a quarter of women want to know the cost of the diamond that their husband buys for them. Obviously the other 75 percent were lying!
And more importantly, men, no matter how many times women have heard size doesn’t matter, they still want a big rock. Nearly a quarter of 18-34 year-old women think that size is a more important factor than quality when it comes to choosing their diamonds. Guess this means it’s a good thing so many women are buying their own diamonds these days, huh men?
