 Robbins Brothers, a Southern California retail jeweler, has come up with some amazing giveaways for this Valentine’s Day. Having recently partnered with Disney and Touchstone Pictures, the chain is running the “Romantic Wishes—‘When in Rome’” sweepstakes through February 14. Couples can submit their “ultimate romantic wishes” on the Robbins Brothers website for a chance to win a private screening of the movie “When in Rome” (starring Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel), an Amsale wedding dress, or even a trip for two to Rome. The marketing department also asked all of stores’ salespeople to keep their ears open for couples with amazing or inspiring love stories. Their plan was to find the one ideal couple and invite them to the Hollywood premiere of “When in Rome”, and find one they did. 25-year-olf Navy Seal Chad Williams met Aubrey O’Boyle in line at Space Mountain at Disneyland. Williams was deployed all over the globe, including Iraq, but the couple stayed together despite any distance between them. After returning from his recent tour in Iraq, Williams felt that it was time to propose, and went to a Robbins Brothers store, where the staff helped him find the right engagement ring and listened to his story. It struck a chord with both the salespeople and all of the higher-ups, and a special proposal was arranged. The couple was invited to the January 27 premiere of “When in Rome”, with Williams explaining that they had won tickets ‘in a sweepstakes’. As the couple walked the red carpet, Williams stopped and pretended to tie his shoe, but instead got on one knee and offered to O’Boyle the engagement ring that he had bought—a one-carat, round brilliant diamond in a setting by designer Scott Kay. Naturally, she said “yes”. The couple also received a gift certificate towards wedding bands and a dinner for two at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse in Los Angeles.
