A man in Michigan decided to propose to his fiance in a very special – at the end of the play “A Christmas Carol” at a local theater. The man – Dan Janes – contacted the theater’s executive art director and asked if he could propose to his girlfriend after the play and give her a diamond ring. The director agreed. After the play, the director asked Janes to come up onstage. He then related the story of how he met his girlfriend in the nursing program at a local university. He called his girlfriend onto the stage and proposed to her on one knee and placed a diamond ring on her finger. Many people in the audience began to cry, and many of them said after the play that they really enjoyed the unusual ending to the traditional play. The groom-to-be said that he was so nervous, he did not remember if she said yes to his proposal. He said that he heard clapping so he thought that meant she said yes. His girlfriend said she had no clue he was going to propose. They plan to wed on Jan. 31, 2009.
