Israel attempts to grow ties with booming Chinese diamond trade
1/2/2008
The Israeli Diamond Industry will have a strong presence at the Jan. 10-13, 2008, Macau Jewelry and Watch Fair in Israel. It will take place at the Cotai Strip Convention and Exhibition Center at the Venetian Macao.
Exhibiting at the show will be more than 50 Israeli companies, and 37 will participate in the Israel Diamond Pavilion hosted by the Israel Diamond Institute. Chinese buyers are expected to come to the show. In fact, the large Israeli participation in this show is because of increased efforts for the Israeli Diamond Industry to reach the growing Chinese diamond market.
The fair is the latest effort in an attempt to grow ties with China. The Israeli Diamond Industry in 2007 started a program to grow ties between the Israeli and Chinese diamond industries. The Israeli Diamond Industry opened an office in Hong Kong in July, and also launched a website in Chinese. The site is geared to the needs and interests of the Chinese diamond and jewelry industry.
The Israeli Diamond Industry also stated that it would try to expand its participation in China diamond trade fairs, and the Macau show is a symbol of these new efforts to grow with the diamond market in China.
