California’s Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort has just announced a ski package that includes seven nights of luxury lodging, lift tickets, dining credits, and a $10,000 rare black diamond necklace.  The over-the-top Black Diamond Ski package costs a whopping $26,653 – and that’s before taxes. 

The black diamond necklace was created by jewelers Spirits in Stone, who run a boutique at Northstar-at-Tahoe’s resort.  They’re one of the few galleries and jewelers in the United States to carry black diamonds.  Black diamonds, also known as Carbonados, are quite rare.  Their origin is still under dispute – some scientists claim that Carbonados are of extraterrestrial origin (coming from asteroids and meteorites) while others claim that that they’re formed here on Earth.

The Black Diamond Ski Package was created in celebration of the expansions on Lookout Mountain and the completion of the Village at Northstar project.  

Northstar at Tahoe is a year-round resort situated near the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, The huge resort features 2,280 vertical feet of downhill terrain accessed by 17 lifts, a snowmaking system, a cross-country center, the new Village at Northstar, on-site lodging and summer activities including an 18-hole golf course and a lift-served mountain bike park.
