World Series Ring Missing

Phillies World Series Ring Missing

Police are currently investigating the disappearance of a 2008 World Series championship ring that has 103 diamonds and is valued at up to $15,000.  The investigators are combing the Philadelphia Phillies' ballpark, where the ring is believed to be missing.

The owner is a member of the Phillies marketing department, not an athlete. He noticed the ring missing after he used the restroom at Citizens Bank Park.

According to police Lt. Martin Derbyshire, the man remembered taking the ring off at about 1:30 pm. As part of the investigation, police have talked to other employees and watched surveillance footage. As of now police are saying the ring is considered missing, not stolen: “So far, we don't have a theft. The ring is just missing.”

The 14 karat white gold ring contains 103 diamonds, totaling nearly four karats – but to the employee, the ring is priceless.

Phillies shortstop, Jimmy Rollins, expressed his sympathy: “We always say we play for the rings. So why would I want to hide it? I look at it everyday. To lose it? Whew...I don't even what to say about it.”

Phillies center fielder, Shane Victorino, hopes the irreplaceable ring finds it way back home: “As a player on the team, it means a lot to us. It's near and dear to your heart. Hopefully, the person that has it will understand that, hey, I think it belongs in the right hands and should be placed in the right person's hands.”

The ring celebrates the Phillies victory over Tampa Bay in 2008.
