 This summer, upscale diamond jeweler Piaget is releasing a decadent collection that includes their signature watches, diamond necklaces, and rings. The Limelight Paradise Collection has a cocktail theme that features, naturally, cocktail rings. These cocktail rings differ from the classic work that Piaget has done in the past, in that the rings are designed to actually look like thirst-quenching alcoholic beverages. The Sex on the Beach ring features a pink tourmaline for the drink and a peridot for the lime. The Capirinha uses a round-cut tourmaline to represent an orange garnish for the brilliant-cut citrine drink. The Blue Hawaiian displays a blue topaz for the drink, granished with a white chalcedony palm tree topped with a yellow sapphire. Each ring, in true Piaget style, is made of 18-karat white gold encrusted with 214 brilliant-cut white diamonds, except for the Blue Hawaiian, which includes 121 brilliant-cut diamonds instead. Piaget is primarily known for its extraordinary and decadent watch designs, beginning in 1874. The precision that began then has carried through their work over the centuries, earning it a following not only for the appearance of the pieces, but for the absolute quality of work. The brand’s expansion into making diamond jewelry is fairly recent, but they have quickly earned a reputation for great craftsmanship and creativity. The whimsical designs of the Cocktail Collection is something of a departure for Piaget, and the opening of a whole new market for them.
