A close friend of Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem has revealed that the couple is engaged to be married. Rumors of pending nuptial have been floating around the blogosphere since April, but this time it seems like the real deal. “They're telling friends they will get married,” says a friend of the duo, who heard the news directly from one of them. The evidence surrounding the couple certainly suggests they will be exchanging wedding rings quite soon. Strong rumors claim that Cruz is pregnant with Bardem’s child, and a wedding would certainly provide comfort to Cruz’s Catholic parents. However, the couple is still denying the baby speculation, despite a photo showing the happy couple leaving an OB/GYN clinic in Madrid last month. Cruz recently revealed reluctance about being a wife: “I don't know if I believe in marriage. I believe in family, love and children.” She added, “When I [have children], I want to do it really well. I want it to be my best project in life.” It is believed that the super-attractive pair first fell into each other’s arms in 1992, while filming ‘Jamon, Jamon’. Cruz broke off the relationship after filming wrapped, but they co-starred together in 1997’s ‘Live Flesh’. They quickly fell back in love while shooting Woody Allen’s ‘Vicky Christina Barcelona’. Cruz won an Oscar for her role in ‘Vicki Christina Barcelona’, and Bardem won one for his role in The Coen Brothers’ ‘No Country For Old Men’. Some reports claimed they'd broken up last year, alleging Cruz was angry at Bardem for breaking a promise to take a year off from work. According to a source, “Penelope is really angry because she turned down a few really good roles because she was so committed to their sabbatical” Also, Cruz’s brother Eduardo claimed that his sister was disappointed that Bardem wouldn’t adopt a baby from India with her. Despite rumors of break-up and pregnancy, one thing is sure – the couple is very close to admitting their mutual love, and a wedding could be very near.
