The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, passed away on July 25 due to cardiac arrest, but has still yet to officially be buried. Well, the time has come. Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, has declared that his son’s body will be buried at a Los Angeles cemetery on August 29 – what would have been his 51st birthday. Since the pop star’s passing, there has been a frenzy surrounding anything and everything Jacko related, including reports that Jackson’s hair will be turned into diamonds by Chicago-based jeweler LifeGem. Last week, media reports claimed that the Thriller singer’s body was buried in a private ceremony early this month. However, those reports were given by unnamed sources and were never confirmed by Jackson’s family. So far a Jackson family spokesman has not provided any comments regarding Joe Jackson’s statement, nor has a spokesman at Los Angeles’ Forest Lawn cemetery, when Michael is supposedly set to be buried. In July, a public memorial for the singer was held, but it was never confirmed that he was buried after the event. In other related news, Judge Mitchell Beckloff approved a deal for the sale of Michael Jackson merchandise. Attorney John Branca and music executive John McClain, executors of Jackson’s will, has stated that the deal will generate millions of dollars for the estate. On August 7, Judge Beckloff approved a deal between Jackson’s estate, Columbia Pictures and AEG Live for the October 30 release of a movie featuring the King of Pop’s final rehearsals. However, a decision whether to approve concert promoter AEG Live’s plans for a traveling exhibition of Jackson memorabilia has been delayed until Friday.
