 Austrian Jeweler Peter Aloisson has added to the already-coveted iPhone 3G by, literally, turning it to gold. The new design, made of yellow gold, white gold, and rose gold, features a 6.6 carat diamond as the home button, and, with a $2.5 million price tag, is the most expensive mobile phone in the world. Called the “King’s Button” phone—because of its diamond home button—this iPhone is not only made of solid gold, but has a case to match. According to Aloisson’s website, “The iPhone is made of solid 18-carat yellow gold, white gold, and rose gold. The case has a white gold line encrusted with 138 brilliant cut diamonds of the best quality.” Brilliant cut diamonds are still the most popular diamond cuts for everything from engagement rings to—evidently—cell phones because they give off a huge amount of sparkle from their many facets. The “King’s Button” iPhone has all the same features as a normal iPhone 3G, but is simply made of some of nature’s most expensive materials. Aloisson has already designed several other mobile phones, like the Motorola Krzr, the Nokia E65 and 8800, and the Sony Ericsson T68, all made with gold, diamonds, and other jewels.
