| The Rolling Stones Want To Play Your Wedding Tue, August 25th 2009, 09:21 EST | | So you’ve said your vows, exchanged wedding rings, and now you’re ready to let loose and have some fun dancing. Instead of hiring a DJ or some second-rate wedding band, why not hire the Rolling Stones?
That’s right, the Rolling Stones. For a mere 5 million pounds, singer Mick Jagger, guitarist Keith Richards, drummer Charlie Watts and guitarist Ronnie Wood would be delighted to perform all the hits - from ‘Brown Sugar’ to ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’ – and everything else in between.
The Stones’ hefty price tag have earned them the distinguished designation of the world’s most expensive wedding act, ahead of pop stars Elton John and Kylie Minogue, who only ask for 2 million pounds to play at weddings. Elton, however, donates his earnings from private concerts to the Elton John AIDS Foundation, a charity he set up and organized.
According to a recent poll, diva Christina Aguilera was named the fourth most expensive nuptial performer at 1.5 million pounds a show and George Michaels earns a colossal 1.3 million pounds for a private concert. Amy Winehouse, Paul McCartney and Jennifer Lopez each earn a whopping 1 million pounds per performance.
| | Venezuelan Crowned Miss Universe 2009 Mon, August 24th 2009, 10:09 EST | | On Sunday night, Venezuelan beauty Stephania Fernandez was crowned Miss Universe 2009. This is her country’s second consecutive win and it’s sixth overall win in the pageant.
The 18-year-old brunette defeated favorites from Australia and Dominican Republic to become the 58th winner of the diamond crown. The show was broadcast live around the world from the Atlantis, Paradise Island resort in the Bahamas.
Dressed in a flowing red gown, Stefania Fernandez hugged the runner-up from the Dominican Republic and danced in joy when she was announced as the victor.
After the pageant, Fernandez tried to give insight regarding her country’s Miss Universe success: “What do we Venezuelans have?” she mused. “That we are ourselves.”
During the Q and A segment, Fernandez said she believed women have overcome obstacles such as hitting the “glass ceiling.” “I feel we have reached the level that men are at,” she remarked.

| | Michael Jackson Burial Planned
Tue, August 18th 2009, 10:36 EST | | The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, passed away on July 25 due to cardiac arrest, but has still yet to officially be buried. Well, the time has come. Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, has declared that his son’s body will be buried at a Los Angeles cemetery on August 29 – what would have been his 51st birthday.
Since the pop star’s passing, there has been a frenzy surrounding anything and everything Jacko related, including reports that Jackson’s hair will be turned into diamonds by Chicago-based jeweler LifeGem.
Last week, media reports claimed that the Thriller singer’s body was buried in a private ceremony early this month. However, those reports were given by unnamed sources and were never confirmed by Jackson’s family.
So far a Jackson family spokesman has not provided any comments regarding Joe Jackson’s statement, nor has a spokesman at Los Angeles’ Forest Lawn cemetery, when Michael is supposedly set to buried.
In July, a public memorial for the singer was held, but it was never confirmed that he was buried after the event.
| | Police Called To Jon And Kate Gosselin’s Home Mon, August 17th 2009, 08:56 EST | | Last Thursday, around 6 p.m., police arrived to the Gosselin family home in Wernersville, Pa. to calm down a verbal dispute between the estranged couple who exchanged wedding rings over a decade ago. According to sources, it was Kate Gosselin who made the phone call to the police.
Last Monday, Kate appeared on The Today Show and told host Meredith Viera that she still loves “the Jon I knew,” despite the fact that the stars of TLC’s reality-series, ‘Kate & Jon Plus 8’, are heading for a divorce.
According to an officer’s statement made to PEOPLE: “[Police] got there and calmed the situation down. No one was arrested and no citations were issued.”
According to another source, Kate called the house to see which babysitter was assisting with the children. A heated argument followed when Kate disapproved the chosen caretaker. However, “due to the custody agreement, Kate couldn't enter the property," the source says. “The cops had no choice but to tell Kate she couldn't go past the gate.”

| | Michael Jackson’s Hair To Be Turned Into Diamonds Thu, August 13rd 2009, 11:23 EST | | If the death of Michael Jackson hasn’t sparked enough outrageous spectacles, here’s another one: an American firm plans to create diamonds from a lock of the King of Pop’s hair.
LifeGem, the company set to immortalize Jacko’s locks, specializes in converting DNA into diamonds. The company claims to possess a lock of the Thriller singer’s hair from when it accidentally caught fire on the set of filming a Pepsi commercial in 1984.
Supposedly, Ralph Cohen, the executive producer of the Pepsi video shoot, collected some of the charred strands of Jackson’s hair and put them in his pocket while Jackson was being rushed off to the hospital. He kept it for 25 years before selling it to John Reznikoff, who has built a collection of hair from famous people including Marilyn Monroe, Abraham Lincoln, and John F. Kennedy.

| | Godfather of Michael Jackson’s Kids Claims Paternity Mon, August 10th 2009, 14:16 EST | | In more king of pop-related news, the godfather of Michael Jackson's three children is claiming to be the father of the singer's daughter, Paris.
In a video interview with Jackson's longtime friend Mark Lester, 51, broadcast on the News of the World Web site, Lester states he donated his sperm at a London clinic. He said Jackson had already exchanged wedding rings with Debbie Rowe at the time.
Now Lester is arguing: "I gave Michael my sperm so that he could have kids — and I believe Paris is my daughter." He further elaborated: "It's been a secret for too long. In 1996 Michael asked me if I would give him my sperm and I said yes. It was a gift to him, no money was paid, it was something I was honoured to do. He wanted children so badly.”

| | Paula Abdul - From ‘American Idol’ To ‘Dancing with the Stars’? Sun, August 9th 2009, 08:50 EST | | Since quitting ‘American Idol’ last week, Paula Abdul has been receiving offers, including a spot on ABC’s hit show, ‘Dancing with the Stars’. According to ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson, he called her right after he heard about her exit from ‘American Idol’ to let her know she was welcome anytime on ‘Dancing with the Stars’.
Abdul, who famously exchanged wedding rings with The Breakfast Club star, Emilio Estevez, in 1992, has seen a real up shift in her career since appearing on ‘American Idol’.
About inviting Abdul to appear on Dancing with the Stars, McPherson had some very kind and generous words: “I told her we'd love to have her on 'Dancing' - as a judge, a guest star or a contestant. She's a huge talent. I think there's a sensitivity and a kind of emotion to her that balances out 'Idol.' And we'd love to get a piece of that. It would be great."
