Using nothing but personal charm, a thief swindled approximately $42 million in diamonds from a bank in Brussels earlier this month. After burgling safety deposit boxes at an ABN Amro bank in Antwerp’s diamond district, the conman made out with the diamonds without even turning heads, according to the Independent. The thief posed as a successful businessman, befriended the bank staff, and won enough confidence over the last year to gain access to the bank’s vault. Now the staff is dumbfounded as to how they gave a man with a fake Argentine passport an all-access pass to their valuables. Moral of the story: only trust men who are giving you diamonds, not taking them away!
