Forest Diamonds wins $750,000 judgment against Aminov DiamondsWed, February 20th 2008, 06:16 EST | |
| A U.S. federal court decided to award Forest Diamonds $750,000 that is to be paid by a relative of the diamond firm’s co-owner, who was ordered to stop doing business under a similar name. Forest Diamonds stated that the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York ordered Aminov Diamonds to transfer its telephone and fax numbers to Forest Diamonds. The former firm’s telephone/fax numbers are one number different than Forest’s. Aminov also was ordered to stop doing business under that name, which is a d/b/a of Forest Diamonds. Aminov also must stop using the other firm’s customer database. The court entered this judgment about one month after Forest filed a motion against Aminov and its owner, Yehuda Aminov, who is the nephew of Isaac Aminov, the former co-owner of Forest Diamonds. Aminov was accused of intentionally destroying evidence. After the motion was entered, Aminov filed for personal bankruptcy, which “stayed” Forest’s action against him.
