| Oprah Bids Farewell Sun, November 22nd 2009, 11:34 EST | | Time for some historic T.V. news - Oprah Winfrey has officially announced that she will be ending her talk show next September, after 25 years as the reigning queen of media. That’s right… The Oprah Winfrey show is going off the air on September 9, 2010 - less than a year from now.
Oprah made the announcement on the Friday broadcast of her hit show. She fought back tears as she explained her decision to the audience. “Twenty-five years feels right in my bones and feels right in my spirit,” she confessed.
The Oprah Winfrey Show first aired on September 8, 1986. In the beginning she primarily discussed relationships and typical talk show fodder. During the late 90s, her show changed focus and began incorporating spirituality and human interest stories.
In 1993, Michael Jackson gave his first television in more than a decade. He invited Oprah to his home at Neverland for the 90-minute interview that was seen by more than 100 million people around the world.
In 2004, for her 19th season premiere, Oprah gave each member in her audience the keys to a brand new Pontiac G6.
In 2005, Tom Cruise embarrassed himself on Oprah’s couch. After bringing up Katie Holmes, the actor quickly became animated, until he finally started jumping up and down on Oprah’s couch.
In 2006, Oprah had on Blood Diamond Director Ed Zwick and stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Djimon Hounsou to have a discussion about conflict diamonds.
| | Alex Rodriguez Gives Kate Hudson a Diamond Ring Thu, November 19th 2009, 14:24 EST | | Baseball star Alex Rodriguez, better know as A-Rod, bought actress Kate Hudson a flashy Louis Vuitton bauble, which features rich diamonds and pink sapphires, and is set in a white gold band.
As is becoming a celebrity trend, a source says the gift is not an engagement ring, but rather a commemoration of the New York Yankees winning the World Series earlier this month.
“It’s a beautiful piece of jewelry. Alex has a World Series ring, and now Kate does too,” says the source.
The 30-year-old actress and daughter of Goldie Hawn has dealt with engagement rumors quite a bit. Recently, she started a media frenzy after being photographed wearing a diamond sparkler on her engagement finger.
“Did you know that the ring was actually on my right hand?” she said. “I'm like, 'Why would I even respond? What would I say if you're going to lie about something ridiculous?'”
Yesterday, during an appearance on Oprah, Hudson kept the details of her relationship private.

| | Penelope Cruz Dodges Engagement Questions
Wed, November 18th 2009, 11:09 EST | | Penelope Cruz has been very, very secretive about the status of her relationship with Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem. Although strong rumors persist that the couple is engaged and set to marry very soon, the pair refuse to shed light on the situation.
Penelope was on The Late Show on Tuesday to promote her new film Broken Embraces. When Letterman began questioning her about a potential marriage between her and Bardem, she shrugged off the questions. When pressed, she simply told him that she doesn’t “feel comfortable” talking about this issue.
“I’ve been here a few times with you,” she said. “You know I’m tough. One thing I don’t do, I don’t lie about my personal life.”
She explained that her love life and privacy are “sacred” and that she doesn’t “give details about it because I am allergic to that.” Letterman responded: “So you know, but you don’t want to tell me?” Cruz, laughing, said “I choose not to share some things!”
Rumors of a marriage between Cruz and Bardem have been persisting for a while now. The buzz grew even bigger in October when Penelope stepped onto the red carpet displaying a huge diamond ring.

| | Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie Design Diamond Jewelry Tue, November 17th 2009, 05:17 EST | | As if super-couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie don’t have enough on their plate, now they’re designing diamond jewelry… and serpent-themed jewelry at that.
The duo has teamed up with top British Jeweler Asprey to release a series of serpent-themed designs, which include earrings, pendants, bangles, rings, silver spoons and an egg cup.
Being the charitable pair they are, Brad and Angelina will give 100% of the net proceeds to the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict. Already, the couple has donated $1 million in June 2008 through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation.
The inspiration for the jewelry comes from the time Angelina was pregnant with daughter Shiloh in 2006. She was given a gift that was to serve as a protective guardian – a snake ring. “Since then she has seen the snake symbol as a protective talisman for her family,” says a source at Asprey.
The jewelry line started as something for children, but has gradually developed into the limited edition Protector Collection of high end jewelry. However, the collection still includes items for children, including a tooth box and silver egg cup.

| | Kings of Leon Drummer Weds Mon, November 16th 2009, 09:56 EST | | This past Saturday, Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill exchanged wedding rings with singer Jessie Baylin in an outdoor ceremony in Brentwood, Tennessee.
On Sunday morning, Followill Tweeted: “I woke up with a married woman in my bed this morning. Luckily she was mine.”
The wedding took place at Brentwood's Wolf Den Farm, followed by dinner and dancing in a barn on the property. Dinner was catered by Nashville restaurant Miel. Not surprisingly, the couple's first dance was to an instrumental Hawaiian lap steel guitar number.
“It was a gorgeous 70 degree day and the wedding was beautiful. It was a very love-affirming wedding with lots of warmth and happiness,” said a spokesperson.
Guests included Followill's Kings of Leon bandmates and brothers Caleb and Jared Followill, plus bandmate and cousin Matthew Followill. Also in attendance was Scarlett Johansson, who went to high school with the bride, and country singer Billy Currington.
Nathan, 30, met Jessie, 25, at Bonnaroo 2006. She is a singer/songwriter signed to Verve Records.
The night before the wedding, Followill Tweeted: “This time tomorrow night I will be wearing some new jewelry. I'm so excited for tomorrow. A new day, a new life, and a new wife. Thanks Jess.”

| | Eddie Cibrian’s Estranged Wife Has No Money Sun, November 15th 2009, 07:29 EST | | According to Los Angeles court papers, Brandi Glanville says she cannot afford to buy the basic necessities like food and gas because her estranged husband, Eddie Cibrian, control her means of finance, specifically her credit cards.
Glanville, 36, is a former model. Upon exchanging wedding rings with Cibrian, she became a full-time mom. She is requesting at least $39,963 in monthly support from her estranged husband: $11,942 to cover her mortgage, $4,000 for eating out, $3,000 for clothes, $1,500 for child care, $750 for Pilates and another $750 for massages and facials, among other needs. Cibrian filed for divorce after going public about his relationship with country star LeAnn Rimes.
Regarding divorce in California, spouses have a legal right to ask the higher earner to support the lifestyle they were accustomed to during the marriage. Glanville, who's unemployed, claims that Cibrian makes $60,000 gross per week from CSI: Miami.
Glanville accuses Cibrian of cutting her off financially because he's lowered her card's credit limit, and has stopped allowing cash advances on it.
“It has been very difficult and humiliating, not to mention disruptive to the children, for me to have my credit card declined at the supermarket,” she laments.
| | Emmy Rossum Met Adam Duritz Via Twitter Fri, November 13rd 2009, 07:49 EST | | Looks like eHarmony and Jdate has some stiff competition. No, I’m not talking about Match.com or any of the other trillion online dating sites – I’m talking about good old Twitter. It seems that Actress Emmy Rossum met her current boyfriend, Counting Crows singer Adam Duritz, through a Tweet.
“I was on tour with the band this summer. They invited me actually on Twitter,” Rossum explained on the radio show Valentine in the Morning this past Thursday. “That's how we met – on a dare. They dared me to come sing with them a song that I'd never sung before … So I ended up on tour with the band, and it was very, very fun.”
Their relationship became public this fall after they'd been spotted together on several occasions. Rossum, 23, split from husband Justin Siegel in August, although their marriage wasn’t really known about. Commenting about her privacy, Rossum said “It's hard to have a private life and keep it private and hope that people don't pick you apart.”
Regarding her divorce, she says “I'm not asking for anything except freedom so that I can move on to another chapter in my life, and find happiness.”
Well, it seems she has indeed found happiness with Adam. Although there are no plans as of yet, the couple could exchange wedding rings soon.

| | Diamond Ring Falls From Hot Air Balloon Wed, November 11st 2009, 13:19 EST | | Some people just have no luck. Take James Ng for example. Mr. Ng was set to propose to his girlfriend during a hot air balloon ride, but it wasn’t meant to be. As he was 500 feet above the ground, the ring slipped from his grasp towards the disappearing earth.
The 26-year-old pastor had it all planned out. He would hide the one-carat diamond engagement ring in a box and place the box in his camera case. Unfortunately, it didn’t go according to plan. “I just watched it tumble and it hit a tree and spun around and the stuff fluttered out of it,” said Ng. “And I just put my head down on the side of the balloon and I was just - I just couldn't believe I'd just done that.”
The camera case with the box containing the ring fell from Ng's hands and disappeared into the trees below.
“My first thought was just don't tell her what fell out of the balloon, and buy another ring, which it took me forever to afford the one I had,” but his girlfriend, Sonya Bostic, quickly figured out what had happened.
“When the bag dropped and he reacted the way he did, that's when I knew,” Bostic confesses. “Wait a second! My ring's in there!”
Despite the mishap, Ng dropped to one knee and proposed anyway. But Ng's mind didn’t stop working.
“I got up and I was like, what river did we just pass? Where was that? I started trying to get a feel for where we were.”
