| Chelsea Clinton Is Engaged Tue, December 1st 2009, 18:54 EST | | A spokesman for former President Bill Clinton told ABC News that his daughter, Chelsea Clinton, is engaged to her longtime boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky.
Chelsea is the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton - the current Secretary of State in President Barack Obama’s Cabinet. She met Mezvinsky when they were both teenagers in Washington. They both attended Stanford University in California.
Mezvinsky is a son of former Pennsylvania Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky and former Iowa Rep. Ed Mezvinsky, who are longtime friends of the Clintons.
Engagement rumors spread earlier this year – false reports claimed that the duo had planned an August wedding at the resort island of Martha's Vineyard, but Hillary denied them.
The couple sent out an e-mail to friends on Friday announcing the joyous news. They are aiming to exchange wedding rings next summer:

| | Man Appeals For Stolen Ring To Be Returned Mon, November 30th 2009, 15:36 EST | | David Hayes-MacLeod, 27, from Uxbridge, UK, is appealing for the return of his wedding ring, which he believes was stolen from his gym locker. He is requesting that the public be on the lookout for the ‘distinctive’ design of the white gold ring encrusted with diamonds, estimated to be worth around £800.
MacLeod is a primary school teacher. He was a member of Fitness First Gym until he cancelled his membership following the theft. He has reported the stolen ring to the police and they are also urging the public to be alert to its potential whereabouts.
According to MacLeod: “It was last Tuesday evening, I went to the gym after work, and after my workout discovered the ring was missing from my locker. I took it off because you are supposed to take off all jewelry prior to a workout. I'm really angry and disgusted, and cancelled my membership straight away as I believe it had been broken into, there is no other explanation.”
| | iPhone 3GS Sells For Nearly 2 Million Pounds Sun, November 29th 2009, 23:15 EST | | Being filthy rich definitely has its perks. First-class flights, penthouse suites, fancy cars, and gold and diamond encrusted iPhones. That’s right… an iPhone that carries a hefty £1.92 million price tag.

| | Decadent Gifts Abound This Holiday Season Thu, November 26th 2009, 07:06 EST | | As the holiday season approaches, upscale retailers are taking decadence to new levels, creating luxury items that most mere mortals can only dream of. Taking normal items and turning them gold, or embedding diamonds and other jewels into them is becoming more common, and it’s almost a contest to see who can come up with the most ostentatious holiday gift.
If you’re in the market for a cell phone, there are a few new options if you have some extra money. Legendary phone designer Stuart Hughes worked with Davide De Nizza to create a special line called the “Diamond Blackberry Vintage Edition”. The phone is embedded with VS1 black and white diamonds. The back of the phone is covered in Indonesian python skin, and the front has python-skin accents. Because of the rarity of the Indonesian python, and to make the phone more alluring to collectors, only 10 of these phones will be produced, and each will cost just over $7,500.
Stuart Hughes also recently announced the creation of the “18-Karat Gold Solid Rose Gold iPhone. It is the first iPhone made of solid rose gold, using 150 grams. It is embedded with 52 pink diamonds to create the Apple logo on the back.

| | 39 Carat Evening Star Diamond Up For Auction Tue, November 24th 2009, 09:56 EST | | A glorious 39 carat diamond known as the Evening Star is going on the auction block at Christie’s in New York City. The Evening Star is a 39 carat, pear-shaped, D color diamond, and is estimated to be worth between $3.6 million and $5.5 million.
Christie’s is including the Evening Star as a masterpiece at it ‘Magnificent Jewels for a Distinguished Private Collector’ auction. The auction will feature 10 special jewels and will be held on December 10, 2009.
The diamond, which was mined from India’s Golconda mines, received its name from its former owner - she chose to wear it to evening galas as a pendant on a diamond necklace of 68 graduated pear-shaped diamonds embedded in platinum.
The necklace itself is estimated to be worth $400,000 to $600,000. It is being offered as a separate item in the sale. Also, a matching pair of diamond ear pendants - with two pear-shaped, D-color diamonds of 10.21 and 10.51 carats - is estimated to fetch $1.7 million to $2.5 million. The Evening Star, and the stones in the matching earrings, are known as Type IIa diamonds.
| | Two Cullinan Diamonds Sell For $2.8 Million Mon, November 23rd 2009, 04:59 EST | | Petra diamonds has revealed that two Cullinan white diamonds were sold early in November for a combined value of $2.8 million. The diamonds were 58 and 53 carats.
Petra believes that the prices these diamonds went for suggests that another two diamonds recovered in the same production series earlier this year, 507 and 168 carats, will go for a handsome price.
Petra is very pleased with the prices achieved for the two diamonds. The 58.49 carat stone sold for $1.82 million and the 53.31 carat stone sold for $0.96 million.
Petra is still deciding how to market it 507 carat diamond to maximize profit. According to experts, the stone is of exceptional color and clarity. However, it seems that the 168 carat diamond will be sold first.
Diamond prices at Petra have been on the incline since the financial year’s end. The most recent diamond tenders saw strong prices, particularly in October and early November. The company reported that it has sold a number of ‘special’ diamonds from the Cullinan and Koffiefontein mines in the last four months.

That’s right… The Oprah Winfrey show is going off the air on September 9, 2010 - less than a year from now.

| | Alex Rodriguez Gives Kate Hudson a Diamond Ring Thu, November 19th 2009, 14:24 EST | | Baseball star Alex Rodriguez, better know as A-Rod, bought actress Kate Hudson a flashy Louis Vuitton bauble, which features rich diamonds and pink sapphires, and is set in a white gold band.
As is becoming a celebrity trend, a source says the gift is not an engagement ring, but rather a commemoration of the New York Yankees winning the World Series earlier this month.
“It’s a beautiful piece of jewelry. Alex has a World Series ring, and now Kate does too,” says the source.
The 30-year-old actress and daughter of Goldie Hawn has dealt with engagement rumors quite a bit. Recently, she started a media frenzy after being photographed wearing a diamond sparkler on her engagement finger.
“Did you know that the ring was actually on my right hand?” she said. “I'm like, 'Why would I even respond? What would I say if you're going to lie about something ridiculous?'”
Yesterday, during an appearance on Oprah, Hudson kept the details of her relationship private.

| | Penelope Cruz Dodges Engagement Questions
Wed, November 18th 2009, 11:09 EST | | Penelope Cruz has been very, very secretive about the status of her relationship with Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem. Although strong rumors persist that the couple is engaged and set to marry very soon, the pair refuse to shed light on the situation.
Penelope was on The Late Show on Tuesday to promote her new film Broken Embraces. When Letterman began questioning her about a potential marriage between her and Bardem, she shrugged off the questions. When pressed, she simply told him that she doesn’t “feel comfortable” talking about this issue.
“I’ve been here a few times with you,” she said. “You know I’m tough. One thing I don’t do, I don’t lie about my personal life.”
She explained that her love life and privacy are “sacred” and that she doesn’t “give details about it because I am allergic to that.” Letterman responded: “So you know, but you don’t want to tell me?” Cruz, laughing, said “I choose not to share some things!”
Rumors of a marriage between Cruz and Bardem have been persisting for a while now. The buzz grew even bigger in October when Penelope stepped onto the red carpet displaying a huge diamond ring.
