 | Russell Brand Shopping For Engagement Ring
Wed, December 16th 2009, 17:44 EST | | It’s no secret that Russell Brand has been dating pop sensation Katy Perry for several months now. Well, looks like their romance may be heating up, because Brand has been spotted out shopping for an engagement ring says News of the World.
Although News of the World isn’t always the most reliable source of news out there, there are picture of Brand looking at engagement rings. The notorious ladies man may be ready to tie the knot – perhaps over Christmas?
The store manager confirms that Brand is looking for something “special” for his lady. “His face lit up when he saw this one diamond ring. He put it on his hand and he just gazed at it for ages, deep in contemplation,” he says.
Even though pictures show the comedian looking at diamond rings, there is no word yet on whether he made any purchase.
Brand has repeatedly told the media that he was head over heels in love with Kate, even hinting that he was having very serious thoughts about their future: “She’s the one. I’m a one-woman gentleman now. She’s really funny and gorgeous. We’re having a lot of fun.” | |
|  | Courtney Love Loses Custody Over Frances Bean Cobain
Tue, December 15th 2009, 15:52 EST | | Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain exchanged wedding rings in 1992. Six months later the couple gave birth to daughter Francis Bean Cobain. It was to be the only child the pair would have, since Kurt committed suicide in 1994. Now, Frances Bean has been taken away from Courtney and placed in a temporary guardianship according to court records.
A Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner granted control of the 17-year-old to Kurt Cobain’s mother, Wendy O’Connor, and his sister, Kimberly Dawn. The court filing doesn’t state a reason, nor does it mention Courtney Love.
In recent months, Love’s behavior has been quite erratic. The former frontwoman of rock band Hole has been criticized for blog post ramblings that have attacked Jews, a former bandmate and others. In fact, a notable fashion designer sued Love earlier this year over some posts, claiming they were libelous.
In September 2005, Love was sentenced to 180 days at a drug treatment facility for violating probation in three misdemeanor cases – one for illegal possession of painkillers, one for being under the influence of a controlled substance in public and another for assault and battery.
A three-page court order issued on Friday was all that was made public regarding the guardianship. Attorney Geraldine Wyle - who is handling the case for Kurt’s mother and sister - says it is a private family matter and no other comment would be issued. Tiger Woods’ wife has removed her wedding ring after 5 years of marriage – just a few days after Elin revealed that she planned to stay married to Tiger for the sake of their two children. She was spotted out and about without her gold band and diamond engagement ring.
The blonde Swede took the couple's two children to a Christmas party in Florida on Saturday. It was revealed that the couple was visited by the Florida Department of Children and Families earlier during the day. According to reports, agency workers wanted to check on ‘the welfare of the children.’
Tiger, 33, recently announced he will take an indefinite break from golf in a bid to save his marriage and become a “better husband, father and person.” But some reports suggest that Elin is planning a divorce next year – a rumor fueled by the removal of her wedding ring. A source said: “She's putting on a brave face but she's hurting terribly. Tiger is doing everything he can to save his marriage but I can't see them getting through this. The wounds are too deep.”

|  | Jon Gosselin Loses In Court
Sun, December 13rd 2009, 15:25 EST | | On Thursday, a Maryland judge ruled that Jon Gosselin must stop making media appearances and endorsements that breach his TLC contract. For example, the celebrity dad recently hosted a Las Vegas pool party. This was illegal according to his contract.
Montgomery County Circuit Judge Michael D. Mason granted TLC a preliminary injunction, pending the outcome of an April 19 trial.
Mark Heller, Gosselin's lawyer, said he was confident Gosselin would eventually win the case. He also suggested that TLC should be anxious to settle so they can resume their hit reality show “Jon & Kate Plus 8, which ended recently due to legal dispute and the Gosselins' pending divorce. The couple exchanged wedding rings in 1999.
“Jon Gosselin holds the key to the 'Jon & Kate Plus 8' brand,” said Heller.
Gosselin's lawyers claim the contract allows certain media appearances, but the judge said that wasn't how he interpreted the contract.
TLC Chief Operating Officer Edward Sabin testified that Gosselin has made many media appearances and endorsements that are not permitted in the contract. He also complained that Gosselin drank alcohol and hung out with women in public – actions that go against the wholesome image of the show. He also said that the public statements Gosselin made about the show and the network were embarrassing.
In particular, Sabin mentioned the Las Vegas pool party that Gosselin hosted at the MGM Grand Hotel. “What we wanted to avoid was exactly what happened. The next day in the tabloids were photos of Mr. Gosselin surrounded by bikini-clad women,” Sabin lamented. | |

Thu, December 10th 2009, 06:05 EST | | New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and supermodel Gisele Bundchen have welcomed a baby boy. Brady announced the boy was born Tuesday and that he and his wife have not yet chosen a name. He said it was “a wonderful experience in my life.” He added: “Everyone's great. I didn't get much sleep.”
Brady also has a 2-year-old son, Jack, with actress Bridget Moynahan. Gisele is a first-time mother.
Brady and Bundchen exchanged wedding rings during a small ceremony in Los Angeles this past February. In April, they held another wedding ceremony in Costa Rica for friends and family.
On Wednesday, Brady showed up 16 minutes late for his weekly media availability. The Patriots have lost three of their last four games and their record has dropped to 7-5 as a result. They lead the AFC East by one game and play at home Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.
Brady said it was important for him to come to work Wednesday. “I owe it to the guys in the locker room to really focus on what I need to do for this team and put all these emotions aside and kind of come in here with a great sense of determination on what we have to do as a team. So, as a captain and a leader of this team, the last thing they need from me is to be really not focused on the job at hand. There's plenty of things for me to really be doing here this week.”

|  | Nicolas Cage Is Being Sued By His Ex
Wed, December 9th 2009, 14:40 EST | | It seems like old Nicolas Cage cannot find a break in his financial situation. It’s not bad enough the man has such spending habits that he cannot afford to keep the things he owns - now he must also deal with a $13 million lawsuit from his ex.
Christina Fulton, mother of Cage’s eldest child Weston, is suing Nicolas for fraud and breach of contract. She claims she is tangled up in his financial mismanagement and is in debt for more than $1.2 million herself as a result.
In an October lawsuit, Cage said he faces financial ruin after allegedly being swindled by his former accountant, Samuel Levin. Cage currently owes $6.3 million in back taxes. He also recently defaulted on a $2 million loan.
Cage has built a reputation of being one of the craziest spenders in Hollywood, blowing his fortune on fast cars, diamond jewelery, yachts, castles and a collection of shrunken heads and dinosaur skulls. He has begun a massive sale of his possessions in order to prevent financial collapse.
Fulton, 42, is a former actress. She says she was given a home in L.A. years ago as payment for raising Weston. Until recently, she believed the home to be under her name. In September, Cage supposedly served her with a 60-day eviction notice.

|  | Relative Finds Missing Ring In Mall Parking Lot

After spending Thanksgiving with his parents in Chicago, Michael Ebner decided to go shopping on “Black Friday” before heading home to Indiana. He was accompanied on his shopping trip to Peru Mall by his son, Ryan, and daughter-in-law, Bethany.
According to Michael’s recollection, Bethany removed her wedding ring and engagement ring in the car to apply hand lotion. She assumed she placed the rings in her purse, but most likely just left them on her lap. When they left the car, both gems fell to the floor, but no one noticed.
Hours later, after realizing that Bethany has lost her rings, they returned to the mall parking lot where their car was parked. They returned to the parking lot and found the wedding band on the pavement where their car was parked. But the engagement ring was nowhere to be found. They searched and searched, but with no avail.
“We pretty much thought it was gone,” explained Michael. Then Bergner’s employees told Michael someone had reported finding a ring, but they unfortunately did not have that person’s information. | |
|  | Weezer Frontman Rivers Cuomo Injured In Bus Accident
Mon, December 7th 2009, 14:40 EST | | Rivers Cuomo, the lead singer of Weezer, suffered internal injuries when the band’s tour bus hit some ice and skidded across the New York State Thruway, hit a guide rail, and eventually slid into a ditch early Sunday morning.
Rivers Cuomo was traveling with his wife, 2-year-old daughter, and assistant Sarah Kim. Cuomo and Kim were transported by ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, N.Y. Rivers’ wife and child were unharmed.
Rivers exchanged wedding rings with Kyoko Ito in 2006. They gave birth to daughter Mia in 2007.
The passengers were traveling east to Boston, where the band was scheduled to perform on Monday. The vehicle struck a patch of ice and the driver lost control. The vehicle mounted the median, rammed a guide rail on the right shoulder and crashed into a ditch alongside the roadway.
Weezer’s drummer, Patrick Wilson, Tweeted about the accident hours after the crash:
“It was perfect conditions for black ice. Got loose going towards the meridian, driver saves it but bus goes thru guardrail into 6ft ditch.”

Sun, December 6th 2009, 07:38 EST | | Diamonds are very popular, especially in the United States. But did you know that one in every two diamonds sold in the U.S. comes from Israel? Well, it’s true. Despite it’s tiny size, Israel is one of the leading diamond trade centers in the world.
Israel’s diamond industry, based at the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) in Ramat Gan, is a model that many countries seek to adapt when setting up their own diamond trade centers. According to Avi Paz, the President of the IDE: “From India, from Turkey, and from other countries, people have come to learn from us how to organize secure compounds for diamond dealers. We teach them how to provide a commercial infrastructure for the diamond dealer from a security perspective and supporting services for the diamond dealers.”
A new building in New York’s Diamond District will be built according to the Israeli model. Expected to be completed by 2011, the building is estimated to cost $750 million. Executives from Extell, the building firm, say the building will be called the International Gem Tower.
The International Gem Tower will replace the hundreds of old and rundown buildings in the Diamond District on 47th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues in Manhattan. This will provide diamond retailers a safe working environment for trade.
In the Israeli model, four buildings are connected using a system of bridges. In New York, that particular model will be combined into one 34-story building. | |

Remember those ancient Greek wedding ceremonies where the newly wed couple updated their Facebook status in real-time? No? Well, that’s because it never happened… but now it does.
After Tracy Page and Dana Hanna were officially pronounced husband and wife, Dana instantly updated his Facebook and Twitter status via his PDA.
Dana Hanna is a software developer known as “The Software Jedi”. Somehow he found time to exchange wedding rings with Tracy Page, but maybe to her chagrin. Within minutes of being pronounced ‘man and wife’, Hanna pulled out his smartphone and began to social network.
“Standing at the altar with @TracyPage where just a second ago, she became my wife! Gotta go, time to kiss my bride,” he Tweeted.
When the celebrant (who knew about the Tweet plan ahead of time) announced that “Dana is updating his relationship status on Facebook,” the room burst into collective laughter.
Hanna published a short video of the event on YouTube. He has already received nearly 90,000 views thus far.
Hanna explained that he and his wife are “very technology centric” and that they use Facebook and Twitter to keep in touch with their large scattered families. | |
