 | Simon Cowell Buys Huge Engagement Ring For Fiance
Tue, March 2nd 2010, 13:50 EST | | On American Idol Simon Cowell is mean, condescending and insensitive. However, when it comes to love, the man clearly knows how to treat a lady. Cowell and girlfriend Mezhgan Hussainy are officially engaged, and she has one hell of an engagement ring to prove it.
Just last week Cowell denied being engaged. However, Simon’s agent, Max Clifford, told PEOPLE: “When I asked him last Wednesday, when he and Mezhgan were about to fly back to L.A., I said, 'Are you engaged?' His answer was, 'Max, I'm not engaged.' That was last Wednesday.”
The 36-year-old Hussainy and the 50-year-old Cowell have been dismissing engagement rumors for weeks.
Hussainy exclusively told RadarOnline.com’s David Perel about the engagement. Perel says: “Mezhgan is bursting with joy over the engagement and it's obvious how happy she and Simon are together.” According to the Radar report, Hussainy “was all smiles as she told RadarOnline.com exclusively that the couple, who are living together, are officially engaged.”

|  | Man Sues Woman Over Engagement Ring
Mon, March 1st 2010, 16:22 EST | | Here’s a sad, but amusing story about love gone wrong. It involves Rena Hope Friedman, Roger Adler and one very expensive engagement ring.
When Roger Adler, 42, asked Rena Hope Friedman, 41, to marry him, she gladly accepted. Roger then slipped a $58,000 diamond and platinum engagement ring on her finger.
Just 12 days later, the engagement unfortunately ended. However, when Roger asked for the engagement ring back, Rena simply refused.
Now Roger is suing Rena in Manhattan Supreme Court, claiming Rena accepts marriage proposals and engagement rings then breaks off the engagement and keeps the rings. He claims his ex was “previously engaged to another male . . . the engagement ended under similar circumstances . . . [she] failed to return the engagement ring in the previous matter,” according to court papers.
Roger said the pair met at a Hamptons Labor Day party after being introduced by their mothers. He also said that Rena was set on marriage, and that they dated for only six weeks before he proposed. “She kept rushing me and rushing me,” he said.
The day after Roger presented Rena with the gorgeous ring, she managed to convince the appraiser to put her name on the appraisal in preparation for selling the ring in her name. | |
|  | Bachelor’s Jason And Molly Get Married
Sun, February 28th 2010, 06:51 EST | | Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney of The Bachelor fame officially exchanged wedding rings on Saturday.
Approximately 300 guests were present as the couple exchanged vows at the Terranea Resort on the coast of Rancho Palos Verdes of California. The event will be televised on the March 8th special The Bachelor: Jason and Molly’s Wedding on ABC.
“We’re really excited for them,” said former Bachelorette Jillian Harris. Harris, who participated for Jason’s affection on The Bachelor, attended the ceremony with Ed Swiderski, who she became engaged to last year on The Bachelorette.
“They are very ‘normal’ in one sense, but on the other hand both of us have been through things in terms of the tabloids and drama after our shows were over,” says Harris. “We’re so sympathetic to each other’s relationships that we’re huge supporters of each other.”
Former Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants Trista and Ryan Sutter, DeAnna Pappas, Jesse Csinsak and Kiptyn Locke were among the 300 guests in attendance. | |
|  | The 4 Million Dollar Diamond Heist
Wed, February 24th 2010, 06:25 EST | | Two Diamond District wholesalers were arrested yesterday in connection with a 2008 $4 million diamond jewelry heist. The two alleged robbers were disguised as Hasidic Jews during the holdup. If this seems familiar to you, it should… it is very similar setup to Guy Richie’s film Snatch.
Atul Shah, 48, and Mahaveer Kankariya, 43, were charged with grand larceny, insurance fraud and falsifying business records for a staged gunpoint robbery at their Midtown store on New Years Eve in 2008.
According to Law enforcement sources, enhanced video surveillance footage shows the pair stealing the jewelry before the fake. “The whole thing was set up,” said a source.
The fake robbery took place during the daytime on December 31, 2008. The robbers wore typical Orthodox garb – black coats, hats and beards – and flashed fake ID’s to get inside the building. After they were buzzed into the store, the pair drew guns and held up Shah and another employee. | |

According to friends, Sienna is only wearing the ring because she likes how it looks. They argue that she is not engaged because she is not wearing the ring on her wedding finger.
Although Miller and Law were once engaged, they called it off in 2006 after Jude confessed to having an affair with his children’s nanny. However, the couple has recently reunited, and Miller appears extremely happy about it. In fact, her friends say they wouldn’t be surprised if they did decide to marry.

The event - which took place in New York’s Fifth Avenue Apple Store - was officiated by a man dressed as Steve Jobs, who read the couple their vows from an iPhone.
Why did Li and Ting decide to marry at an Apple Store? “We got to know each other because Ting was looking to buy an iPod...and I managed to strike up a conversation that way,” Josh explained to Entertainment Weekly. “I used to joke that the Apple Store is my church because I am not religious, and I loved everything Apple," he elaborated. “Ting then came up with the idea of having the wedding there.”

Thu, February 18th 2010, 05:06 EST | | Through a newly-discovered process known as CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition), synthetic diamond company Gemesis has now created gem-sized diamonds in a vacuum chamber. While lab-grown diamonds will never hold the same mystique as natural diamonds, they will easily change the face of technology as we know it. The first synthetic diamond took over five year to create. Now it can be done in a matter of days.
CVD involves heating the vacuum chamber to temperatures up to 2000 Celsius, adding methane and hydrogen, and using microwave radiation. Starting with a “seed diamond”, the molecules attach themselves to the carbon that makes up the seed diamond. As more and more of the gas molecules connect, the diamond grows larger and larger. Because the process is in a completely controlled environment and the spaces between the molecules are virtually nonexistent, the diamonds grown are entirely without impurities and flaws, making them at least 50% stronger than natural diamonds. Each of the Super Diamonds is laser-marked, so they don’t find their way onto the natural diamond market, glutting it with flawless diamonds. | |

Some have said that this is the first year that the celebration isn’t tainted in some way my memories of Hurricane Katrina. Between the New Orleans Saints winning the Super Bowl a week ago and the rebuilding of the city, people are feeling—for the first time in almost five years—like celebrating. At Saturday’s Endymion parade, the crowd was at least 20 deep and many had camped out for days to catch some of the finest beads and favors thrown at Mardi Gras. The Grand Marshal of the parade was announced in the beginning of January: Saints Owner Tom Benson. From his Vince Lombardi Trophy-themed float, he waved to the jubilant crowd and held up signs, thanking him for not moving the team after Katrina hit. Also on the float with him were a number of Saints players, throwing beads and joining in the fun. | |
