| Mick Jagger Engaged to L’Wren Scott? Mon, September 7th 2009, 08:20 EST | | When Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger wants a quiet evening out with his girlfriend of eight years, L’Wren Scott, he is often dismayed—but never surprised—when the paparazzi catches up with them. On Sunday night, when the couple was leaving London’s Donmar Warehouse Theatre, where they had just seen ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’, they were caught again on camera, and, again, NOT on camera together. The couple has tried over the years to avoid being photographed together.
Although they bought a 6 million pound home together in 2006, spending hundred of thousands on renovations, they have not, as far as anyone knows, exchanged wedding rings yet. Scott has, however, been seeing wearing a huge diamond on her wedding finger, but has been coy about whether or not it is an engagement ring from the twice-married frontman, telling the Daily Mail that “It’s a very beautiful ring and that’s all I’m going to say about it.”
L’Wren Scott, a former model and now a celebrity stylist, has embraced the family that she has inherited along with her famous love, and, unlike his previous girlfriends, has no plans to have children with him. He already has six children from previous relationships. Scott is now 42, and Jagger is 65.
| | Diamond Thief Charged With Attempted Murder Sun, September 6th 2009, 11:58 EST | | In what has already been hailed as Britain’s biggest jewel heist, two gunmen casually strolled into Graff Jewelers in Mayfair, an upscale London store, and stole diamonds worth $65 million last month. Yesterday, British police charged a man, in connection with the heist, with attempted murder,
Although six other men have already been charged with conspiracy to rob the renowned jeweler, Aman Kassaye, 24, faces the most serious charge thus far related to the robbery.
Besides attempted murder, Kassaye, is also charged with conspiracy to rob Graff Jewelers, imprisoning and detaining a person against their will, and using a handgun with intent to resist or prevent the arrest or detention of himself and others.
The aftermath of the robbery was captured by amateur video, and it shows screaming pedestrians and shoppers ducking for cover and trying to escape as a shot is fired. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
Security camera footage released shortly after the theft showed two men in entering the store, pulling out guns, and briefly taking an employee hostage. They escaped via several getaway cars.
As of yet, none of the 43 stolen items has been recovered.
| | Katherine Heigle Leaving Grey’s Anatomy Thu, September 3rd 2009, 05:26 EST | | It has been no secret that Katherine Heigle is unhappy on the set of Grey’s Anatomy. She has publicly lashed out against the show on several occasions, most recently complaining on the David Letterman Show about having to work 17 hour days. Last year she withdrew her name from Emmy consideration because she felt the material she was given was not worthy of any award.
Well, now it seems Heigle is taking some time off from Seattle Grace, the fictitious hospital where her character, Izzie Stevens, works. How long? At least 5 episodes, but who knows.
Heigle, who exchanged wedding rings with musician Josh Kelly less than 2 years ago, is taking the hiatus to film a new romantic comedy, ‘Life As We Know it’. According to an ABC rep: “Katherine is taking time off to film a movie. The producers at Grey’s have accommodated past things like that before. It’s a cast of 13 and it is a true ensemble so the show is mindful [of other commitments].”
According to EW, Heigl’s departure is set to begin this month and last into November. Of course, the absence will be explained on screen. Also, co-star Ellen Pompeo is due to give birth in October and is expected to take maternity leave around the same time. According to the ABC rep, that’s “all being worked out. Shonda [Rhimes] has had plans in place for a very long time.”
| | DJ AM’s Funeral To Be Held In California Wed, September 2nd 2009, 10:10 EST | | Adam Goldstein, better known as DJ Am, passed away on August 28th, but the details surrounding his death are still uncertain. It was first reported that Goldstein died of an accidental overdose - now different reports suggest he may have committed suicide. Eight undigested OxyContin pills were found in his body, and a ninth still in his mouth. Also, crack paraphernalia was found near his body.
Although the funeral plans haven’t yet been made public, Adam’s body has been released and is reported to be heading to California to be buried there. His mother, Andrea, lives in Los Angeles. Speculation suggests that the funeral will take place in California later this week.
Goldstein, who once gave Nicole Richie an engagement ring, was said to be devastated about the recent break up with his girlfriend, Hayley Wood. Sources say that authorities who entered Goldstein's New York apartment found a Valentine's Day card in the next room from Haley Wood. Beside the card were six or seven photos of Wood and Goldstein.
Goldstein and good friend Travis Barker, of pop-punk band Blink 182, were involved in a serious plane crash less than a year ago. The accident left four dead. The duo barely escaped by sliding down the wing of the fallen plane. They were both in critical condition after surviving the crash.
| | World Series Ring Missing Tue, September 1st 2009, 09:31 EST | | Police are currently investigating the disappearance of a 2008 World Series championship ring that has 103 diamonds and is valued at up to $15,000. The investigators are combing the Philadelphia Phillies' ballpark, where the ring is believed to be missing.
The owner is a member of the Phillies marketing department, not an athlete. He noticed the ring missing after he used the restroom at Citizens Bank Park. According to police Lt. Martin Derbyshire, the man remembered taking the ring off at about 1:30 pm. As part of the investigation, police have talked to other employees and watched surveillance footage. As of now police are saying the ring is considered missing, not stolen: “So far, we don't have a theft. The ring is just missing.”
The 14 karat white gold ring contains 103 diamonds, totaling nearly four karats – but to the employee, the ring is priceless.
Phillies shortstop, Jimmy Rollins, expressed his sympathy: “We always say we play for the rings. So why would I want to hide it? I look at it everyday. To lose it? Whew...I don't even what to say about it.”
| | 36th Daytime Emmys A Show of First and Lasts Mon, August 31st 2009, 02:48 EST | | Los Angeles, California -- Hosted by Vanessa Williams, the 2009 Daytime Emmy Awards was its usual showcase of hairstyle, fashion, and diamond jewelry trends. As if to say goodbye to famed soap opera “Guiding Light”, which is going off the air after 72 years, the stars turned out in their finest.
Among the fashion trends spotted were backless dresses, one-shouldered gowns, and tousled hair, and diamond dress details. Foremost in all of these categories was actress Jennie Garth, whose stunning orange-red gown featured a diamond brooch at the waist. Her diamond drop earrings were easily visible through her carefully-disheveled hair.
Winner of the ‘Outstanding Talk Show Entertainment’ category Rachael Ray, who took home her second Emmy, wore a cocktail-length purple gown with a diamond-encrusted halter. Although Ellen DeGeneres was blocked from her predicted five-peat by a win by the ladies of “The View”, she and Portia DiRossi made an impressive appearance, with DiRossi still glowing as she showed off the marquise-cut diamond engagement ring surrounded with pink diamonds, a gift from DeGeneres.
| | Archie Proposes To Veronica, Betty Heartbroken Sun, August 30th 2009, 09:31 EST | | For more than 67 years, comic book fans have witnessed the endless dilemma plaguing protagonist Archie Andrews – who should he pick, blonde Betty or dark-haired Veronica? Now fans can finally let out a huge sign of relief (or disbelief), because the famous comic redhead teen has made a decision. In the first installment of a six-part series due to hit newsstand on September 1st, Archie present an engagement ring to Veronica. That’s right, he went with the brunette.
“there’s very few things that I can ever think of that will trump this type of event,” says Happy Harbor Comics owner, Jay Bardyla, “Especially something that’s of characters that are known by so many people.”
Tim Lasiuta, a comic book historian, described the marriage as “a bold step” to create a buzz among Archie devotees.
Indeed the marriage comes as a surprise to most longtime fans, expecting Archie’s decision to go on indefinitely. Many are surprised that he chose Veronica over Betty. Fan marc Desgagne said “To be honest, it would have been Betty for me, because she was more down to earth compared to Veronica.”

| | The Women Behind Senator Ted Kennedy Thu, August 27th 2009, 10:42 EST | | Senator Ted Kennedy passed away on August 25th, at 77 years old. He left in his wake a pending health reform proposal, a legacy of Senate successes and profound influence on the American politics in general. His name carries the weight of a political legacy and he did all he could to ensure its continuation. But what has been overlooked in all the media frenzy surrounding the Senator’s passing, is the two very different women he exchanged wedding rings with – the women behind the man.
Kennedy’s met his first wife, Joan Bennett, in 1957. She was a refined woman of good taste and a penchant for honesty. They were married for 24 years and she stood behind Kennedy through the assassinations of his brothers John and Robert, the bone cancer of their 12 year old son, Edward Jr., multiple miscarriages and frequent rumors of infidelity. She even stood beside ‘the swimmer’ when his car went off a bridge at Chappaquiddick on Martha's Vineyard, drowning passenger Mary Jo Kopechne.
Despite having her own demons, Joan was publicly vocal about them and always presented herself as she was. Kennedy was separated from Joan for 2 years when he ran for president in 1980. Nevertheless, she said that if he were elected, she would live with him in the White House.
Ted and Joan divorced in 1982.
| | Chris Brown Must Stay Away From Rihanna Wed, August 26th 2009, 09:41 EST | | Yesterday at Los Angeles County Superior Court, R&B singer Chris Brown was sentenced for assaulting girlfriend Rihanna, pop singer of the hit ‘Umbrella’. He was ordered to serve 180 days of community service, put on probation for 5 years and made to attend a 52-week domestic violence program sponsored by the Commonwealth Catholic Charities. Brown was also ordered to stay away from Rihanna for the next 5 years.
Considering heavy rumors suggesting that Chris secretly gave Rihanna an engagement ring before the highly-publicized incident, the 5 year mandatory restraining order may have been the harshest of the punishments. In a report released after the sentencing, Brown is quoted as saying he has been “depressed” since the assault and that he “does not want to carry on that cycle.”
Judge Patricia Schnegg explained to Brown that he could be sent to state prison if he violated any terms of his sentence. Specifically, he must stay 100 yards away from Rihanna for the next 5 years, unless they're co-attending a music industry event, in which case, he must stay 10 yards away.
Brown will serve his sentence in Virginia, where his family is from, and his community service will be monitored by the police chief in Richmond.
| | The Rolling Stones Want To Play Your Wedding Tue, August 25th 2009, 09:21 EST | | So you’ve said your vows, exchanged wedding rings, and now you’re ready to let loose and have some fun dancing. Instead of hiring a DJ or some second-rate wedding band, why not hire the Rolling Stones?
That’s right, the Rolling Stones. For a mere 5 million pounds, singer Mick Jagger, guitarist Keith Richards, drummer Charlie Watts and guitarist Ronnie Wood would be delighted to perform all the hits - from ‘Brown Sugar’ to ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’ – and everything else in between.
The Stones’ hefty price tag have earned them the distinguished designation of the world’s most expensive wedding act, ahead of pop stars Elton John and Kylie Minogue, who only ask for 2 million pounds to play at weddings. Elton, however, donates his earnings from private concerts to the Elton John AIDS Foundation, a charity he set up and organized.
According to a recent poll, diva Christina Aguilera was named the fourth most expensive nuptial performer at 1.5 million pounds a show and George Michaels earns a colossal 1.3 million pounds for a private concert. Amy Winehouse, Paul McCartney and Jennifer Lopez each earn a whopping 1 million pounds per performance.
