GlossaryPolishThe overall condition of the facet surfaces of a finished diamond. There are ratings of good (GD), very good (VG), excellent (EX), and also ideal (ID) when considering the polish of a diamond. To the naked eye, there is no visual difference between these ratings. However, upon close magnified examination you will be able to notice the acute detail of just how clean crisp and clear the facets of the diamond are as you go up in these ratings. When encountering ratings of fair (FR) or poor (PR), be sure to request more information pertaining to this aspect of the polish.
