The photos do not do this ring justice! I adore this setting because it has a traditional feel but is distinct and modern. I love that I can admire my diamond from every angle, and the tension setting allows so much light and sparkle through! It is very comfortable as well! I wanted a low-profile setting so I am not always worried about it catching on something, and the style of the ring suits my practical side while still letting me show off a gorgeous diamond! I chose a yellow gold band because I think yellow gold is just so classic, and my bright diamond contrasts beautifully off of it. I think about how gorgeous and worn-in the band will look in years to come. James Allen customer service was wonderful to work with, as well. The helped me with a custom order because my diamond was outside of the recommended size for this band, and they were so accommodating and quick to respond.

Did I say yes? Well of course I did, I picked out the ring myself ;-) You can just tell what care went into the design and making of this ring. What a beauty! It looks breathtaking in person.

I LOVE my James Allen contoured tension V121 engagement ring. It is very original and beautiful. Many people say that they have never seen a ring like this, which is exactly what I wanted. It seems to size big. We had to resize the original one and it is still on the loose side. I think its because the ring isnt flush against the finger all the way around like a normal band, so there is some give underneath the diamond. James Allen handled the re-sizing very well. According to my husband, their customer service has been excellent every time he has had to work with them. There was a delay in getting my re-sized ring back, and he got emails every day stating the status and when we could expect the ring. My ring is the 14K white gold 0.75 carat real picture on this page. I have been wearing it since Feb 2, 2013. I have a plain rounded 14K white gold 4 mm band to wear as my wedding band and the two look great together. You cannot tell from the picture, but the diamond is actually slightly wider than the band. The band fits perfectly next to the engagement ring and does not interfere with the diamond as it sits below it. I wish I could upload a picture to show you, but you will just have to trust me. I did talk to James Allen customer service about what would look best with the e-ring before settling on this band, and they were very helpful in suggesting styles and even offered to design one! In the end, I preferred a very simple band. I can think of only two downsides to this ring / purchasing from James Allen: 1. I cannot just walk into the jewelry store my ring came from to have it cleaned. I would prefer to get cleanings from the original jeweler since I trust them - but in James Allens defense, I havent called customer service to find out about care and cleaning. Perhaps they have a solution for this. 2. Because the setting is so prominent and higher than the diamond, the band gets very scratched up in 14K white gold. I already had visible scratches within a few days of wearing it, and now that it has been 6+ months, the setting is almost dull its so scratched. I am not sure what to do about this - but again, I have not contacted James Allen about this problem. I dont know if platinum would make a difference. Despite these two downsides, I love my ring so much and would not trade it for any other design. It is simple yet original and very elegant. I did not want a ring where the diamond would stick way out and scratch (thinking ahead of when we have kids) and this ring is perfect. I have received many compliments, but what matters most is that I absolutely love it.
